Hey everyone,

Did you have a powerful experience with music and psychedelics that you can vividly recall? Are you wondering why that moment still stands out, even if it may have been years ago?

If so, take part in a research study being conducted by Johns Hopkins University researchers that aims to figure out which characteristics of music are associated with different aspects of psychedelic experiences. This research could eventually be used to improve playlists used in psychedelic therapy that has been shown to treat addiction and mood disorders.

If you:

o Are at least 18 years old.
o Read and write English fluently.
o Have taken a sufficient dose of a psychedelic (ex. psilocybin, LSD) to produce at least moderate psychoactive effects in a non-therapeutic context
o Have listened to and can recall at least one piece of music that had a powerful effect on you under the influence of psychedelics in the past 10 years

Then we want to hear from you! Tell us all about it in this survey!

https://mrprcbcw.hosts.j...ap/surveys/?s=7DX94KHWN7

All responses will remain confidential and no identifying information will be collected as a part of this research study.

Thanks!

Hi eitwoseven!

Are you with the group doing the study? It definitely sounds like a very worthy endeavor. Are you affiliated with a group that’s planning to use this data directly or is this stand alone research?

Gotta mention Ravi Shankar or really any highly skilled classical sitarist can transport one away from anxiety loops and into a more productive experience.

Hi, i will gladly participate in your study, as i do have relevant experience. But unfortunately, i wasnt able to verify this study being legit. I couldnt find it anywhere on the Johns Hopkins website. Furthermore, when i looked up the irb number you provided (IRB00294333), nothing came up as well. I have tried search engines, as well as these registries:

https://ohrp.cit.nih.gov.../irbsearch.aspx?styp=bsc
https://www.hhs.gov/

This makes me doubt the legitimacy of this study and feel reluctant to share personal info. Am i missing something?

Thanks for your diligence Kitisha. I too would participate if indeed this is a legit study.

Yes, thank you Kitisha for directly asking the question. I’m not sure why I felt uncomfortable coming right out and asking, and chose to probe more timidly, possibly exposing others to security issues.

eitwoseven, can you provide some sort of credentials or some means of legitimizing this?

No problem guys. Maybe it would be appropriate to hide the link or put some warning next to it before we know for sure. Eitwoseven may not respond at all.
