Pic from my 2nd extraction.
Out of laziness and curiosity, I did not clean the dish I used since scraping out the first precipitation. I wondered if the fine layer of leftovers would provide more nucleation points for crystallization. The first time in a clean dish I got the classic snowglobes. In this "dirty" dish it crystallized as a continuous layer covering the entire bottom. It flaked off easily in "sheets" and reminded me of how an old plaster wall falls apart.
