I know that for herbs, cutting flowers off means more energy for leaf growth. Is it the same for cacti? Growth for the column, I mean.

Not that those flowers are a waste of energy. That is a great pic. Just wondering...

Well, the blooms last for just a couple of weeks. You don't have to worry about the growing if the soil is rich enough or if you fertilize it often.
As far as i know, in marijuana, when the flowers are pollinated and the formation of seeds begin, the THC amount decrease.
But i am not sure if when your flowers are pollinated, the mescaline amount decrese or not. But it doesn´t matter since you are not going to cut off the cacti for eating it soon.

The awaited day will come.

Hey nice to have some feed back.

The big san ped got a treatment with slow release fertiliser a few months ago and I'm sure that's helped, there's about ten flowers (coming and been) this year as opposed to a couple last season.

They fruit? I mean, they flower so I geuss they do, but I've never seen it. Not sure there's any others near enough to get the pollinating done. Not to mention our bees are currently at about 10% of what their population should be thanks to the verroa mite.

I do plan to harvest a column or two sometime after the flowering is done, I should leave it a while before I do then yeah?

I chopped the centre column of my big pedro last year some time because it was yellowing, getting 'barnacles' and generally looking unhappy.

I've been so distracted by the flowers the other columns have been producing I almost completely missed this little guy...

They're looking better Frenzel. Nice one. Some slight shade (shade cloth etc) Will bring the green color back into your plants. You should have noticed pups off that much earlier in our summer, the plants must have had a rough time before you got them, they will be stonking along by next summer tho (as long as you can keep them away from rain in the winter)

In Snu's new book it is noted that the flowers are also psychoactive, if the reports are to be believed they are very potent!

I posted about Snu's book in the hyperspace tavern.

I'd just chop the flowers up and brew them.
