PIHKAL/TIHKAL have been by my side every day for the last 5 years, along with many other psychedelic chemistry books, though PIHKAL/TIHKAL and David E. Nichols research papers are my "gold standard" and I have nearly memorized portions of the chemistry sections of PIHKAL/TIHKAL as well as these other sources...

... some of it was memorized unintentionally, simply by transcribing sections of technical work-ups from various sources on chemistry into my notebook.

... At first it was an attempt to get all the patents related with the chemistry of, let's say LSD, into one notebook, then getting every other published technical work up regarding LSD into one place, meaning chemistry from every known psychedelic chemistry book, as well as personal chemistry notes, and clandestine chemistry work-ups regarding LSD, all into one notebook. Then I I would do this section by section, molecule by molecule, every section a new molecule, every work up from every available source (including my personal notes amd work-ups) regarding that molecule was transcribed, creating the ultimate reference, and inadvertently I permanently committed many of these work-up a to memory... at first it was to build the ultimate reference book, which for the most part I have done, but in the process I became addicted to seeking out and learning all the psychedelic chemistry that I can.

Daniel Trachsel also has some great phenethylamine synthesis work, and though it's not in English I was able to glean, and translate and transcribe a good deal into english and into my notebook, as far as I know, there are are not any english translations of "Phenethylamine: Von der Struktur zur Funktion", and while one should already know the basics of the chemistry, and should have no problem producing their own technical work-ups, I consider my transcribed reference notebooks to be priceless.

You must already have the basics of organic chemistry learned before you will be able to get much out of these technical work-ups, but once you have a few years study of organic chemistry, and have created your own work-ups, the work-ups of others can become addictive.

Jared ledgard's "a laboratory history of amphetamines and derivatives" is a great book, I recently purchased this half expecting a poorly thrown together meth "cook-book" but was pleasantly surprised, it includes an introduction to basic organic chemistry as well as common chemicals used in laboratory chemistry, it includes many illustrations, it outlines common laboratory techniques and procedures, as well as common laboratory equipment and arrangements of said equipment for various purposes. The book outlines many psychedelic phenethylamines and amphetamines, it includes extractions from plant sources, synthesis, precursor compounds, and misc. Information regarding the molecule and it's chemistry and synthesis. I have even found myself being cuaght into work-ups regarding molecules which i have little to no interest in (stimulants) simply because I enjoy the chemistry which is being discussed. This book is a perfect addition to any collection (it pairs great with PIHKAL/TIHKAL)

Any discussion regarding publications on the topic of psychedelic chemistry is welcome though this is not a thread for synthesis discussion, simply discussion of good publications on psychedelic chemistry.

what specifically are you looking for? there is a ton of material archived, from over six years ago.
I personally have a couple gigs on ergot/lysergic chemistry alone.
ok, a couple gigs is a stretch.. but it's a lot.
I dl'd everything from the synthetikal ftp site from the mid 2000's, as I was a resident bee.

Anything and everything involving psychedelic synthesis, my focus is mainly on lysergamide, tryptamine, and phenethylamine molecules.

I've been researching psychedelic chemistry for many years, I have a few years college organic chemistry, and I do apprenticeship/intern work in the field of organic chemistry, so I've already reviewed, learned, and transcribed most of the well known psychedelic synthesis work-ups.

Psychedelic chemistry by Smith, acid trips and chemistry by cam cloud, love drugs, amphetamine synthesis, LSD, and LSD-25 and tryptamine synthesis by Otto snow, PIHKAL/TIHKAL by shulgin, Daniel Trachsel' s phenethylamine publications, LSD synthesis by Will L. Garbrecht, Richard P. Pioch's patents (United States Patent 2,736,728, and others), David E. Nichols publications and research papers, I've really been looking into Pybop condensation of lysergic acid with diethylamine, Casey hardison did some great work in this area which can be found HERE , and so on, should give you an idea of some of the publications I have already reviewed ad nauseam, though it's possible I may have missed things...

Basically any synthesis work-ups that you would think "this is essential for my reference collection" is what I am looking for.

Oh, and discussion of these publications.

For example, I recently purchased "a laboratory history of narcotics vol. 1 amphetamines and derivatives" by Jared ledgard, and I could not be more happy, I mean Theres a few minor issues here and there, but all and all this book was exactly the type of publication which enjoy, I briefly outlined my opinion of this publication in a prior post, so I don't think I need to repeat much of that, but you get the idea...

...discussion and review of these publications was the other purpose of the thread.
