Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

I was wondering if an increase in body temperature (via hot shower, hot bath, jacuzzi, whatever) allows the body to absorb more of whatever substance you are taking/on?

I noticed that whenever I take a hot shower or bath while on a substance(s) (I've tried this with DMT, Mushrooms, Harmalas, LSD, Opiates{back in the day, I don't take pills anymore} alcohol, marijuana, and some RC's) the experience seems to intensify. The only constant that changes during this time is that I am warmer because of the shower/bath.

I don't know if the human body/blood works anything like certain solvents but is it possible that the body/blood can absorb more when it rises above the average body temperature?

Forgive me if this is common knowledge or a silly question. I've always been curious.

**A year or two ago, I was watching "1000 Ways to Die" and one of the episodes featured a couple who died in a jacuzzi. The episode stated that they had been mixing alcohol and opiate based pills and they claimed that because of the pill/alc combo mixed with high heat caused them to die whereas, if I remember correctly, they may have lived if they were not in the jacuzzi...**

Can someone debunk this for me, please?

I would think it might change your subjective experience but not the actual amount of said substance absorbed by your "system."

The phenethylamines will raise your core body temp, as will I think the tryptamines. before the hot shower. On hot days caution can be warranted.

Salvia div. will lower your body temp, I believe.

I've not experienced any increase in the "experience" from hot water.

Okay, thank you! That makes sense.

I wasn't sure if I was just "tripping" or not. Laughing
I was also curious if this effect has been felt by others. A nice hot shower on psychedelics has been extremely rewarding, IME, and I wasn't sure if it was a physical side effect or a psychological one.

I've noticed that I get cold when smoking/vaping DMT (not so much on Aya or Pharma). My feet in particular get the coldest it seems. I wonder what causes that feeling...? I have never tried Salvia. It is on my bucket list though.Very happy

How weird! I get the opposite effect. I always have to remember to make sure I'm borderline cold before starting otherwise I often feel uncomfortably hot after vaping. I get the desire to remove a layer or two of clothing and just can't manage it Very happy

In all of reality there are not two. There is just the one thing. And I am that.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose! Laughing

But yes, that is weird...I've heard it described both ways. For instance, I get a slight to moderate chill when I smoalk, but my girlfriend does not when smoalking from the same batch...but then again she gets cold if the house temp drops from 75 to 74. When that happens she is "freezing" suddenly. Laughing But that tidbit of information isn't really relevant...Very happy

I love taking hot showers on psychedelics. I find it extremely relaxing and enjoyable, especially during the come up. I think the increased effects are due to the relaxation and setting rather than actually increasing absorption though. Your body works very hard to keep your blood and organs at a pretty constant temperature, so your temp won't change but by a very small amount. Stomach pH would effect absorption to a much greater extent I would guess

I have noticed this too... I think it is due to vasoconstrictive properties of most (all?) classic psychedelics. It would explain why your feet get the coldest, since warm blood has a harder time flowing to your extremities

Thank you for your thoughts! Smile

I figured as much about the whole body temperature theory but it is always nice to get more opinions on the matter. I would assume that a jacuzzi would be the easiest way to raise your temperature and have it stay there since the water stays at constant temp, usually somewhere around 100 degrees F. It is probably a good thing that our bodies are self regulating otherwise people would be croaking left and right...Very happy

The cold phenomenon is still a mystery to me and if what you are saying is true, than it would indeed make a lot of sense. I don't know enough one way or the other to make a sound judgement though...Embarrased Big grin

Looks like I have some research to do!
