Managed to test this. Rigged up a light bulb bubbler, mixed 5 drops of dmt acetate liquid with a pinch of sodium carb (per round) to form a dryish paste that was easy to manipulate. Dropped this into the bulb and applied heat with a tea light candle. The experiment was conducted with a group of 3.
In the first round the vapour took ages to start rising. First there was water vapour as the paste dried. The spice eventually vaporised turning the paste black, i could see embers glowing very briefly as it vaporised. The vapour (once filtered through the water) was not harsh at all and felt very clean. It had a slightly different smell to the fb spice i've experienced before, but that may just be because this was more jimjam spice than pure fb.
The first one who went had a great experience which lasted a solid 10 mins or so at least. The second round there were some problems with the flame and it didn't vaporise as easily. This person went up into what he called lego land, but came back quite quickly. The third round the paste was clumped together and even though a lot of vapour came off not all of it turned black and the resulting experience was only threshold.
So the experiment was a success, in that it's possible to vaporise dmt-acetate liquid easily by mixing with sodium carb. I would never try this without a water filter though.
In retrospect because of the difficulty in vaporising it, I think taking the time to make enhanced leaf would be more rewarding. Below is a pic of the bubbler we used.
