Hey good people, just wanted to find out if anyone has any idea if there are any goodies at the bottom of a cacti tea cup.

If preparing tea without blending or mashing the live plant the resulting tea doesn't have a slimy consistency. And if the resulting cup is allowed to freeze and thaw it separates into two layers. The tea turns almost clear red color and at the bottom is a white sediment.

Before i always mixed the cup up before taking gulps but now it appears that the white sediment carries a lot of foul taste. And i'm not sure if it's worth drinking it.

Anyone have any ideas on that?

It's possible that the sediment may contain some alkaloids depending on how concentrated the solution is.

Maybe you could separate the liquid portion from the sediment, wash the sediment with acidic solution and then fridge decant and evaporate the new liquid phase.

I pretty much do that with every extraction I perform because throwing things out is a sad story Smile

I've had some very active substances in sediments from many plants over the years so... I always play it safe. It could be for nothing, but it's only a little effort.

Agreed, i know for a fact that Ayahuasca contains just about all the goodies in the sediment. Not sure about cacti though.

Which brings me to another point, i grew very fond of mixing small amounts of ayahuasca and cacti. The only problem with that combo is undeniable discomfort over a 3 hour stretch or so. But you can't just purge or puke, you have to sit there over a bucket hovering for hours trying to reach inside your deepest intestines. There comes a point when your pours open up and there is a very strong cactus taste in the mouth. Thats the point when maoi's stop suppressing the cactus alkoids and the body load starts to subside substantially. After which you can enjoy and make the most out of the next 10 hours or so.

The combo has such great synergy and soul healing it is hard to put into words. I just think it would have been nice to clean up the cacti tea a little to cut down on some of that body discomfort.

Thats another reason i'm trying to find out about this sediment. Does it contain mostly stuff that give you a lot of body load or does it contain a lot of special ingredients that make the experience so special?

I guess, we might not know without some experimentation. Smile Just thought maybe someone might have a better clue.
