I've been pondering this recently, and is there any haven for spiritually enlightened people in this beautiful, vast planet of ours? Is there anywhere that one can travel to and potentially live where there is no BS, no Removed, no Removed, no miserable people who are bringing other people down, no controversy, no pettiness, no fake-ness? Does such a place exist?

Mod edit: Perhaps you missed the recent memo on no swearing Here

Perhaps the bottom of the Mariana Trench. But as far as places inhabited by humans... I suspect the answer is no.

Sort of...

Many such places exist, at least temporarily, as a sanity node in the middle of this sea of madness.

I know a few such places, usually small towns, close to nature, where a certain alternative movement has settled in. They are not perfect, neither completely detached from the outside world, and human drama can still exist everywhere, but generally things flow very well and one can feel at peace.

I`m thinking particularly of a couple of places in Brazil, but I know they are out there in many other countries.

PS: I don`t believe in `spiritually enlightened` people, and I probably would not like to be around those who claim so. I think rather there are some people who can make mistakes but are honestly trying to be more aware, develop themselves, willing to receive constructive criticism and improve, and potentiate each other`s growth. And that`s enough Smile

I did miss the memo. Sorry.

Well I was thinking that I would consider myself spiritually enlightened, in a sense, but not in the conventional way. I'm looking at it from the perspective that I feel like I know or have a very good sense of what really matters in life, how people should treat each other, etc. That was my definition.

And as far as what I'm envisioning, it's a place where everyone is completely self aware, there is harmony between everyone, like as in everyone has a mutual understanding of everyone else. To elaborate further, somewhere where no one is talking behind anyone's back, there's no frivolous arguing, there's no posers, etc. Surely somewhere, a group of people must have figured it out.

Perhaps only place where you could find this is inside of yourself...but then again i constantly prove to my self that i have as much bull in me as the next man so.Wut?
All i can say is welcome to mother earth brother where bull is part of your live and you must navigate it by swimming with current and let the rest fall as it may. If the world is a mirror then as long there is bull in you it will reflect it back.Smile

In a graveyard or in the distant past, before language was invented? In some novel, somewhere? I need to get out more and go to some of those places that Endlessness mentioned. Sad

There is bullshit everywhere. I see it as a reaction to our environment and part of the wonderful complexity of human nature.
I got chased down the road by a sheep today because i was trying to stop him eating the garden. He probably thought that i was ineherently full of bullshit for laying claim to the plantlife. I think it as all a matter of perspective.

Define BS...

It sounds a little like you are saying that people who think differently than you do, live or act differently, or have different opinions or ways of expressing or asserting their opinions are somehow inferior to you. Dangerous line of thinking...

There will always be BS where there are different opinions and differing perspectives - the way you look at the world is likely BS to a lot of people also. I would even go so far as to say that if you get a group of people together who seemingly have the same worldview and definition of BS, it won't be long before minute differences grow divisive. Just look at Auroville outside of Pondicherry in India, or any other of the handful of failed utopias.

Or just look at the Nexus! Pleased I mean, I fully expect there to many who disagree with what I have written here and some who may even call it BS! But I accept that.

What is BS then? Simply difference that you, personally, find unacceptable, intolerable or offensive. If I agree with you it is BS for me also, but BS is subjective - there can be no universally objective definition of it!

This is a beautifully diverse world: a single place of "spiritually enlightened people" (whatever that is) would be, to me, a boring place to be. Every be in a room where everyone wears white robes and all they talk about is "love and light?" Bor-ring

You need dirt and grime along with the pearls . . . . and let's not forget that it is the piece of dirt or grime that becomes the pearl.
Fear, belief, love phenomena that determined the course of our lives. These forces begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. We cross and recross our old paths like figure skaters; our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.

Well technically that is part of what I'm saying, and I don't think that's a dangerous line of thinking. I think it's very fair to say that a certain number of people live or act in undesirable ways, from anyone's perspective, even their own!

But no that's not exactly what I mean by BS. I really couldn't find the proper word. If you want concrete examples, I'll try to generate a few. Here's a few:

-A friend who borrows money and doesn't pay you back.
-A brother who steals something form you and denies it.
-A cooperative work environment where everyone is complaining about everything and everyone else.
-An acquaintance who is just unjustifiably a prick to you, where your actions didn't warrant it.
-Someone who doesn't put away weights at the gym.
-Teenagers. (half-joking)

Things like that. I would have to believe that it's possible to have an environment without any of that stuff, no? I would like to believe that, anyway. Is the consensus that such a reality does not exist?

The sort of enlightenment you're describing here sounds like anal retentiveness to me. Get rich, and people will start catering to your every need -that should solve your dilemma.

C"mon Cyb, be realistic. There is no excuse for not putting the weights away at the gym. I would put that particular scenario in my top 3 reasons for the decline of Western civilisation.

Haha YES it really is that bad. It's of course about what that sort of thing represents on a larger scale, which I feel is a carelessness for one's environment and even other people.

But to be clear, I don't let these things affect me in a negative way. That is the choice that I make, we're on the same page there. I'm approaching this from the standpoint that it would be preferable if there was somewhere that this sort of thing didn't happen at all and wasn't an aspect of life. That's all. Who wouldn't want that?

I, for one, would be lost, because there would be nothing for me to moan about.

I feel every standpoint is valid and has it's ˝truth˝. Just goes to show how excepting is this experience in it self and of it self. Shall i say ˝Infinite layers of onion truth˝ .Big grin
In any case this illusion/realty that we are experiencing is based on duality...

BS is built into the deranged state of consciousness that humans currently inhabit...I think this is true everywhere, by degrees.

So not completely, but there are some places that are very, very nice. But much of that depends on you.
