Hello all,

I feel like I made some connections that are worth discussing/sharing with you all who might have the same experiences or difficulties getting the full effects from tryptamines.

Prior to when I first extracted DMT I was taking Gabapentin, which is a medication that has been determined to have been overprescribed by doctors for off-label uses. I believe fundamentally it dampens nerve signals by building up a level of a Gaba analogue that fills the Gaba receptors. I haven't looked into the actual science of it; it bears doing but I can base my results solely on empirical evidence and personal experience. I did narrow down this chemical as my confounding factor and would like to hear from others who could substantiate or discuss the connection.

There are class-action lawsuits for it being overprescribed for off-label use because the makers of Neurontin paid doctors to prescribe it leniently for off-label use, and it is addictive like a benzo would be. Typically it is for neuromuscular pain, but off-label uses include anxiety, insomnia, bipolar... the list goes on. In my case it was for insomnia.

I noticed a dampening of emotions and a general feeling of ease when I took it. I also noticed that the effects I should have been getting from huge hits of vaped DMT were merely threshold effects, hyperspace blackouts, generally not much beyond "ooh look at the openeye visuals the colors and the shimmering/wavering of objects." With 5-meo-MiPT which I had heard great things about, I got not much except some stimulation and a body-load.

Anyway I went off gabapentin with Phenibut. Went off that, suffering horrible alcohol relapses and such but it was worth it. Was out of DMT by that point but... wouldn't ya know it, I had stashed some 5-meo-MiPT on myself which I found yesterday. About 15mg.

Railed it up... NIGHT and DAY. Effects were awesome! Color enhancement, tryptamine visuals, some patterning, tracers, elation/euphoria, insights, great stimulation, nearly no body-load. Every sensation enhanced!

So I am wondering about others' ability to get good results or not with tryptamines while they have a level of these (what I now consider complete garbage drugs) gaba analogues or gabaminergic drugs in their bodies, or if anyone has any insight on the activity of tryptamines as related to the GABA receptors. When attempting to withdraw from Gabapentin and Phenibut I had a severe alcohol relapse which resulted in me getting banned from the forum but I wanted to come back and give this tidbit back because it's part of the best outcome of that incident.

I'd like to follow up with the sciencey part later and cite sources but I figured why not start empirically- it's where I got a hunch the connection even existed between Tryptamines and GABA.

Also I've used Phenibut to completely stop a strong Ayahuasca dose that didn't feel right at the time... Probably because of the anxiety resulting from Phenibut dependency! The things I do... sheesh.

To anyone who is wondering- I'd completely avoid Phenibut and all other crutch drugs/GABA receptor fillers, except the entheogenic ones occasionally like Passionflower or Valerian.

It comes as no suprise that GABA supresses DMT experiences since GABA is the main supressent of the entire brain.

I guess i abstractly understand the link with Alcohol since it also releases GABA.

Personally, i need extremely high doses of psychedelics to get into certain states. Coincidentally I also need copious amounts of alcohol to get drunk. I think it is because my brain already produces way too much GABA for my own good.

All this is likely explained from youth-learned behavior. I have been consciously shutting myself off from the world since I was a kid. (introverted, flight behaviour)

Just adding in to ur pool of information. Pleased
