Hi.

I've always been making my caapi 10x extract using alcohol and soaking it for weeks (I use caapi leaves). I wanted to get some advice on differences between soaking in alcohol, and boiling it down in water. any thoughts on why any of method is better/worse and why.

I guess it really depends on how much time you have, both work fine. If I was making leaf extract I would probably do water boils and reduce on to leaf.

If I was making vine extract I would probably use ethanol and reduce onto the leaf.

If you have yet to try a vine on leaf extract I would suggest it, I find it to be more effective than a leaf on leaf extract.

In the end it boils down (see what I did there?) to personal preference and if you wanna spend the money buying a bottle of everclear and have a couple weeks to wait.

I've always used alcohol with caapi leaf, as it seems to be a cleaner approach. I haven't yet tried boiling, but I've heard that the result can sometimes be a little 'gloppy'.

If you guys have experience smoking both, is the harshness is the same? My lungs are quite sensitive, and my guts are saying that using boiling water method more plant materials are extracted than with alcohol, what makes it harder to smoke.
I could do the usual alcohol tek, but today, after 3 weeks of soaking it, I spilled everything all over kitchen.. And I don't want to wait another 3 weeks. So I might do water tek, just worried about me coughing (that I do a lot, whatever I smoke).
