ancedotally, before the brain prepares for its nightly subconcious journey,
it floods the brain with melatonin, giving the seritonin system a rest, and preprase the head
for its neural clensing, which, if i understand correctly, is being down by our naturall
nn,dmt, and 5meo-dmt, causing "dreams", this is all part of the brains sicadian rythm, which is nessacary to maintaing a healthy and functional brain/nervous system.
intrestingly more so is that the brain metablisis melatonin with pinoline, 6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline, the pinal glands natural b carboline,

....any who, i regularly travel and screw up my sicadian rythm, and found melatonin to be the best to reset this system, and have ainterstying time doing it.
one night swim was really thinking about this intresting brainyausca happeing every night, and reading the invisible landscape instilled the dreamers confidence, so what swim was going to do was take 15 mg melatonin, (about 5x recomended dose), and really tried to stay awake,
in the end i got to about a +2, a decent plus +2, i could still make out all the nessecary definitions of the physical place i was, but all the objects and meanings they carry where whorling and frothing with life, and focusing on this bush or that bush, brought that object to life, with its own sort of dialoge that i could actually hear, as well i could hear things i wasnt thinking, suggestion or persusive things
when i tried to make my way to my room at about the ass crack of dawn, the house was very difficult to navigate, my mental map of the place was jsut not there, and teh dakkend house was a glow with those enrgy worms that surround everything,
when i laid down finally too sleep, i felt intense vertigo, like i was falling through infiitiy
, a really intense WHOOSH accopmanied by the physcial "strobe light" feeling
