Hello,
I really wish I was already in a position to test my theory myself, but unfortunately this may still take at least a few weeks... I have already "imagined" a protocol for a test but I am by far not yet able to perform it myself...
But maybe someone has already tested my theory or maybe someone has enough theoretical background to prove or disprove it...
I think that when pulling with a
warm non-polar solvent of the
light kind (e.g. naphtha) from a
cold (room temperature) basic solution it would be more efficient to mix/let separate/decant the nps only once rather than mixing/let separate several times before decanting and simply doing more pulls (also less nps per pull?) would be more efficient/faster (if you freeze precip and save the solvent)...
The question is, if you mix/let separate several times before decanting and we call the amount being pulled 100%, what percentage would be pulled if mixing/separating only once before decanting? If this would be quite high, would that prove my theory?
Sorry for not giving a more elaborate explanation, but it's Monday
PLUR
PS If anyone is interested in the test protocol I imagined I'll gladly post it
PPS I have also "imagined" a similar test protocol to check to what extent (if any) cells are still being lysed/ alkaloids being "freed" during the basic stage of an extraction...
