I have been trying to get my hands on a bufo alvarius toad to keep as a pet and supposedly they are illegal in michigan and ohio. I can't find any information that verifies this but an exotic pet store owners have told me this is the case. I am wondering if this is true or if they are just making this up to scare me since they know what I will likely be using it for.

Does anyone have information on the legality of this toad?

Ambiguous indeed, seems I will just have to hunt for a store owner who is oblivious or just doesn't care. Unfortunately many reptile pet store owners seem to know what people do with this toad. Good to know it isn't outright illegal, but seems I will need to tread carefully.

Thanks for your reply.

The idea of an illegal toad...

And I thought I knew just how ridiculous it could get. There's not enough acid in the world to understand what the hell some people are thinking.

I have been trying to get one at reptile stores, and some of the owners that know whats up just look at me with disgust, its kind of annoying because I guarantee I would take better care of these toads then most people. An illegal animal is absurd, and so is an illegal plant.

I heard getting these in europe is actually easier then in the U.S. I guess it depends where you are located obviously, and I don't know how true this is.Confused
