So in the past, SWIM has become quite familiar with STB technique. But recently due to more time and resource availability, he decided to try an A/B technique.

100g shredded mimosa in a large jar, covered in just enough acidic water to cover the bark (15ml of 6% vinegar/litre of water), this was immersed in a warm/hot water bath for 6-8hrs.
The acid soaked material was then percolated, using the THP technique using 10l of acidified water.
The liquid was reduced to around 3ls
He then dissolved 100g of sea salt in 2l of water (assisted with gentle heating).
Once cooled he basified with somewhere between 50-90g of sodium hydroxide .
The salinated basified water was then added to the percolated reduction.
After a while he noticed a pale coloured precipitate forming. He thought it might be the dmt freebasing at first, but realised that this couldnt happen at such high temperatures.
Anyway, he forgets what the first yield was, but remembers that the crystals were large round clusters of dmt shards, rather than the fine powdered layer of yellowy white fluff that he is accustomed to when he does STB.

Anyhow....when it came to removing the saturated naptha during the second pull, he noticed a third orange layer had formed between the mimosa and the naptha. (see pic)
Is this usual for A/B techniques?
What is it?
I suspect it might be the orange goo that usually gets extracted after a few pulls have been done.
I just wondered if anyone else had come across this layer before?
