Im working on an extraction from syrian rue. Using the tao method.
I used a sodium carbonate saturated solution to basify the alkaloids not too long ago & put it in the fridge to separate.
Theres alot of powder collecting already & it looks to me like much more than i was expecting.
Im almost sure theres alot of.sodium carb falling out with.the alkaloids.
How would i go about cleaning the powder up once i decide to decant the liquid?
Im not exactly sure if the manske step will remove sodium carbonate. Or if it will ill have to do it quite a few times to get the desires purity >=(

from here:
you can disolve 218 gr SC in 1 liter water at 20 deg C.

I wonder why it would come out of solution back into solid form.
If so, someone please enlighten me.

It usually doesn't. I screwed up when I made my sodium carbonate solution & used hot water.
Its a lot more soluble in hot water than it is in cold water so when the temperature drops the solubility follows & a saturated solution becomes a super saturated solution leaving any excess to precipitate out & it ends up in the final product.

i have experienced this, its possible your sodium bicarbonate didnèt fully turn into sodium carbonate

you could check the varying solubilities of harmalas and sodium carbonate and find an appropriate solvent, or just dissolve it all into water again and manske it out
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

Check out the Easy cappi vine tek on the wiki and look at this step... "Remove Excess NaOH, Salts, Etc."

When I used this in the past on p.harmala I had to wash the end product many times but was able to get it down to 7.5 pH and it was usable then.

The tek has the explinations for you there.
