I feel I'm having some trouble letting go. I have been flirting with low doses. I do want to go further, although I'm in no hurry. With all the responsibilities in my life I think it creates a fear of letting go. Also the low doses are pretty intense and foreign, and I have some fear of this unknown. This whole thing seems somewhat overwhelming, but that is part of the appeal. Just like my 2 year old, seeking out what she is afraid of, I feel the desire to explore further into this intense world of the mind. Has any of the more experienced traveler's started feeling this way, and found a way to move forward? Eventually into hyperspace? Which is one of my goals. Any advice is appreciated.

how do you let go of your fear of letting go?

quite an interesting recursion...

i would just say keep working where you feel comfortable. there really is no rush, and if it is your goal to end up in hyperspace, you will end up there.

but also, don't be afraid to push the envelope a little bit.

For me having some kind of reason for traveling aside from curiosity usually helps me tackle the fear. Whether it be for a "scientific" experiment, spiritual or psychological purpose, once some kind of greater reason is involved I'm more likely to look my fears in the eyes and go for it.

Rings a bell... The heavier your perception of responsibilities, the harder to let go. But there's ways to properly deal with that. Some ideas...

- First, as PC said, there's no hurry. Give yourself the time you need, don't push anything. Just do things when you really feel like doing them. And if at the moment you enjoy light doses, stay with light doses.
- Try to use the best possible setting, and take your time procuring yourself one. Take the preparation of the setting, the reading and learning, the times just meditating or relaxing, as part of the experience. Prologue is important. Even if you are not going to partake immediately, you can choose music, buy a nice candle, or do some breathing exercises like you would before ingesting.
- If smoked/vaped DMT is too intimidating, consider oral DMT, starting with low doses and building up from there. In not high doses, you will have more control upon the experience because it unfolds more slowly. Pharmahuasca can be a great way to get confidence.
- You can also use other substances to relax before you take DMT. Some people will like a relaxing tea (passion flower, blue lotus, or old plain chamomile), or some cannabis (not the kind that will make you edgy).

Feelings of love towards the people you feel responsible of are always good, and will bring positivity to the experience. Try to think about how much you love them, not about your fears.

work your way up

also while working , keep focusing on your breath - this makes it a lot easier

I would recommend some other activity that requires you to challenge your fears head on like Free running, Rock climbing, skateboarding etc. You might find that this gives you more courage to Dive into the experience.

I can reiterate this idea of not being in a hurry .
When I first started this I approached it like learning
To play a new instrument . I worked very slowly at first
Getting used to the strange feelings and visual distortions.
Also the learning curve with methods of dosing . Find what
Works for you .

I too , like many have a family and much responsibility
My journeying has never interfered with any of it . I can say from
Experience that no matter how intense it gets you always
Return to normal . Learning to let go and facing fear is a huge lesson
In all of this . You can learn so much about yourself in this process it's truly
Amazing .

I would suggest always being attentive to set and setting .
Personally I always journey in nature as far away from people and distraction
As possible . Learn to deep breathe during hard and intense moments . Be your own
Coach talk aloud to yourself tell yourself your ok , and that your gonna make it
Etc. trust me, it works .

Minimize expectation , take it as it comes to you . All theories are
Provisional , above all try not to take it too seriously. That really helped me in the beginning .
Even if I didn't believe it I would sometimes pretend to not be afraid .
All the best to you .
The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

Thank you all. Very insightful and useful advice. Your experience
shines through in your suggestions. Like Vodsel said, the prolude is
part of the experience. All this thoughtful advice adds positivity
to this process. I'll be sure to post, once I make my first breakthrough.
