Hi,

I have begun my MAOI Diet in preparation for six pharmahuasca experiences over a two week period along with RIMA tests. I am heeding to the MAOI Diet but I am taking a RIMA based on B. Caapi.

I really want to eat Dates, the fruit. I bought a whole lotta of em and now I am questioning whether that was a bad idea or not. Does anyone know whether or not dates contain Tyramine? I sort of have a bad feeling they contain high amounts of tyramine.

Thanks

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

there is no such thing as a traditional MAOI diet for ayahuasca. There is dieta, that involves dieting different plants..usually this is something an apprentice does or a sick person etc. MAOI diets in relation to ayahuasca is something made up by western people who, when realized ayahuasca contains harmine(a RIMA) assumed that it had the same dangers of pharmaceutical maoi's. The diet is essentially made up by westerners and not by the indigenous amazonian peoples.

Tyramine is metabolized by MAO-B..harmine inhibits MAO-A..even if you took enough to have some MAO-B activity(you have to take A LOT) the tyramine will still displace the harmine..basically you dont need to worry about tryamine. If anything at all you could get a headache maybe if you took a ton of harmine and eat lots of tyramine..

You need to worry about SSRI's and simulants etc interacting with harmine..thats the real danger..they dont have pharmaceutical SSRI's, MDMA or methamphetamine in the amazon so they dont worry about that sort of stuff..it's the west that has to concider that sort of thing.

Tyramine containing foods are consumed before ayahuasca by the amazonians themselves. Anyone telling you that the avoidance of tyramine is a traditional ayahuasca practice has no idea what they are talking about.

I eat dates before, durring and after ayahuasca and I have never had a problem with them.
Long live the unwoke.

Awesome, thank you. That clears it up well and I am still gonna stick with a vegan diet since I am starting to dig how it is making me feel but it helps to not be anxious about any interactions!
