My 15 year old niece, who's parents have pounds of medicinal weed growing at home, keeps her mouth shut about it . . .

The other day while walking home from school, she was asked by her peer group if she would like to join them for smoking a joint.

Now, this is a young lady who could have bragged that she had access to pounds at home. . . . what does she do? She says:

"No thanks . . . I'm not that cool yet."

"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

Proof that sheltering your kids does more harm than good. Smile I live by that philosophy with my own daughter. Sometimes I might cross the line a bit, letting her watch R rated films and such, but I much prefer honesty to anything else. I didn't even like lying to her about the tooth fairy and Santa Claus Laughing

Holy Crap! Sad Thumbs down Sad

My poor, cute, niece has already been approached by a dealer and asked if she wanted to do something for him that violates the rules of this forum. She went home to discuss it with her parents, who she knows are living on the edge, sacrificing meals so the kids can eat, etc. and asked if they wanted her to bring extra resources into the family on a weekly basis.

They had a long sit down talk with her telling her that she needed to NOT do this, that it was not worth the risk, no matter what the reward appeared. . .

And then they had a sit down with her about her future. They said if you want your business as an adult to involve this plant you need to become politically active to try to keep it legal (medically) and make it more so (recreationally). They also told her before she could even consider the actions referenced above she needed to become 100% expert in all phases of the botany and cultivation as well as harvest of the plant. And that anything she did would be 100% for her and not a cut off of something for someone else.

My brother is suffering severe alcopecia - he has giant holes in his hair in the front, in the back, on the sides and on the neck part of his beard. Sad.

I sincerely do not envy anyone trying to raise a teenager in this day and age but I want to applaud all of you for the good and hard work you do on an everyday basis. Clearly you can never let your attention fade with a teenager or you risk dropping the entire ball . . .

Sounds like a great kid Smile

The level of communication she has with her parents is phenomenal for a teenager!
The inner soul is full of joy. Reveal my secrets and sew me whole. With each day, "I" heeds your call.
You may not care the slightest and may not be the brightest, but from here "I" sees you're mighty for you created it all.

And the jumbling sea rose above the wall.

Through this chaos comes the order you enthrall.
