I have ~250 grams of rather old and brown chacruna (Psychotria viridis) cooking on the stove as we speak- it got left at my father's house accidentally forgotten in a closet for about 9 months, and the bag containing it had a small hole in it, ensuring that the whole batch was entirely brown and oxidized Thumbs down . I am thinking due to the reletively large volume of material that filtering will be kindof hard and so I am going to do two or three hour and a half pulls instead of my usual 6-8 30-45 minute pulls and just add more water about halfway through each? I've never really done long pulls and added water, does anyone has advice tidbits or any information indicating that it makes for a more or less potent brew? No change?

I've never successfully used chacruna so it will be a new experience for me, and I'm looking forward to meeting a new potential ally. In my reading I've seen it being rather kind and preferred for less experienced travellers? Although honestly I fully believe that it could be just as powerful as any of the other tryptamine-sources in the brew, I think I remember reading that some select groups of psychotria viridis are much more potent than others, containing higher levels of DMT. I don't remember where though and I'm sure most of the DMT in mine is completely oxidized. It was average-potency chacruna from what I could tell of my friend who took it with me at around 50 grams, as I could tell he was totally tripping but not absurdly out-there. I for some reason decided to try some "harmine HCl" powder (from the same place I got the chacruna) at 300 mg and it didn't work at all. Maybe that's not enough harmine alone to make for MAO-inhibition but somehow I doubt the purity. The next time I took the rest of it with 100 grams "trueno" ayahuasca while somewhat sleep-deprived and the caapi just put me to sleep and I slept through the experience. I don't remember a thing, it was like being dead.
Anyway, yeah I'm looking forward to meeting this plant.

Oh and I notice that it seems to be not-to-often used by nexians? Am I wrong about that? How many of you like to use chacruna? Do you prefer it to jurema? I have a very powerful connection and good relationship with jurema, but I have had great experiences with chaliponga as well... but he is always so much more overwhelming and spooky, much more wet than jurema, like dark rich river-water. You can't show any fear with that one, he has teeth.

thanks!
