SWIM is in love with spice. he has carved "SWIM + SPICE = TRUE LOVE" on every picnic table he can find... here is his latest query: SWIM has yet to go for a journey WITHOUT having music involved. he has a wonderful collection of beautiful, ethereal tunes, including wonderful "brain-wave technology" cds....all of which color and enhance his experiences most beautifully. however, it is SWIM's belief that the music may just be acting as an "anchor" to this world....kind of a "safety line" of sorts...

...SWIM is actually a little nervous to go into hyperspace without it....any thoughts? many thanks and blessings to all my L.O.V.E. family!!

That's weird as I haven't yet done DMT without music, although on my last break-through at some point i forgot i had music on and couldn't hear it. Another time the music seemed to go in a loop which was strange and i was worried for like a second that i was stuck in hyperspace Shocked

I will have to give it a go without music. Soon!

So glad to hear that. SWIM's last travel featured much weird aural stuff during the first few minutes - music skipping, looping, patches of static - which felt kind of like hiccups or ripples through the experience, and which in turn manipulated the visuals and deepened the integration. Totally unexpected and a little bit frightening (as it was just so fucking weird), but SWIM too is hesitant about going in silence, as music seems to him to serve as a much needed (for now) trail of breadcrumbs back to channel normal.

Yeeeaah, music! My experiences have shown that music can either be deliciously wonderful or dangerously poisonous during space travel, depending on the circumstances. 7 out of ten times I listen to music while projecting myself through other dimensions, & 6.99 out of ten times it is absolutely awesome! So awesome, in fact, that I am often prompted to perform a bit of fancy footwork at some point during my journeys.

I listen to many genres of music, but some dark, heavy, raw & gritty dubstep generally hits the spot right where it counts during visions. Cool

Dude, how the fuck do you be dancing and shit on the spice. SWIM is normally so incapacitated and usually lays on his bed paralsyed by the experience.

But its interesting that you guys like to listen to music. Its something SWIM hasnt tried. In fact he usually wears ear plugs as he can find outside noises a distraction. May be he shall try some hemi-synnch next time.

I used to feel that any noise, even something as miniscule as the ticking of the clock in my front room, was a distraction during space-travel. That was before I ever puffed while listening to music. Wow! I never knew, before this, that you could actually taste and smell music! It's so awesome b/c music is the center of my universe

Agreed. It's like experiencing music for the first time - not in an augemented fashion, but actually for the first time.

don't lose focus my visionary brethren.....the query was not as to how AWESOME music is on the spice (SWIM is right there with you, having BECOME the music on several occasions!), but rather- what is it like SANS tunes? does the music act as an anchor/trail of breadcrumbs/etc. and if so, what is the hyperspace voyage like when that is removed.....MUCH GRATITUDE AND LOVE!!!

First few times I did it without music. Then I found that music with it definately enhances it for me. I have tried a couple times since then to do it without, and for me there is this uncomfortable feeling that something is missing.
What, you ask, was the beginning of it all?
And it is this...

Existence that multiplied itself
For sheer delight of being
And plunged into numberless trillions of forms
So that it might
Find
Itself
Innumerably.
-Sri Aubobindo

SWIM never has done spice with music before. His stereo is in a back room with a noisy server computer. His bedroom has no music box ;(.
Nanaki, of course is a fictional video game character. He never does drugs that would alter consciousness. He only thinks he does.

SWIM is JUST now coming out of hyperspace....wanted to try some of the "dirtier" DMT oxides from his first batch of spice. he heard that the oxides can sometimes provide a stronger visual experience to the pristine white crystals SWIM also produced. didn't do a huge dose (.03) just to get the flavor of it. used music again but something SWIM never listened to before (ergo SWIM had no idea how long it was....no way to measure time/space)... SWIM just can't imagine the journey without the music!! oxides seemed very similar to the crystal for SWIM...a little more toxic feeling coming back is all....next journey is going to be without music...SWIM shall report his findings....many thanks and blessings!!

... heh.

SWIM tried listening to The Mars Volta last time and choose the WRONG track... it went into a part with really dark sounding progression and it gave him the creepiest feeling of isolation.

But yes, music can act as an anchor but in the right state of mind SWIM has found that silence can have its benefits.
Meditation to cure Depression.

What It Will Do for You

This meditation totally recharges you.
It is an antidote to depression. It builds a new system, gives you the capacity and caliber to deal with life, and gives you a direct relationship with your pranic body.
How to Do It
Sit with a straight spine in easy pose. Arms are extended straight out in front of you, parallel to the ground. Close your right hand into a fist. Wrap your left fingers around it. The bases of the palms touch. The thumbs are close together and are pulled straight up. The eyes are focused on the thumbs.
Now inhale for 5 seconds (do not hold the breath in); exhale for 5 seconds; hold the breath out for 15 seconds. Continue.
Start with 3 - 5 minutes and work up to 11 minutes. Build up the time slowly.
In time, you can work up to holding the breath out for 1 full minute.

Lol Mars Volta in the midst would be nutz. Aberinkula could be fun. Have always gone without tunes so far myself, the insane noises I hear entertain me to no end as it is, will have to try with music in the near future. I am actually working on a soundscape documenting what I hear during the interdimensional voyage, stay tuned, shall be soon Very happy

I started a discussion on another board about this. I believe music does, as you say, "provide an anchor" to the real world. I kinda consider this a bad thing. I tried it a few times on low doses and found it distracting. The music wasn't enhanced in the way LSD or even psilocybin would. I also like to listen to the interesting sounds or even bizzare music that can be produced during the experience.

Still, recently I have run into a problem. I go to school in the city and I have found the sounds of cars honking and police sirens to be quite distracting when smoking DMT. I may have to try to listen to music to block this out. Maybe I can find a way just to play white noise through my headphones.

I went to duane reade to find some earplugs and I couldn't find them. Maybe ill order some.

www.bwgen.com you can download the free version of a program that produces brainwave tracks on that site that also provides an option for making tracks with white noise.

The first two time I did yopo I had no music and I thought I had a handle on it. The third time I did it i put on the 22 minute epic known as "Atom heart mother" by pink floyd. It dropped me into a new dimension.
