Well, SWIM have some crude water extract of Syrian Rue. That's a goo which left after boiling crushed seeds in water with citric acid and filtered. This was repeated 3 times. SWIM must say that this was done some 7-8 months ago, and SWIM is not warred that alkaloids are destroyed because he have tried the same "crude extract" old a whole year without loosing potency.

But SWIM also know that sort of "extract" is unpleasant in effects to some degree. Now SWIM would like to purify extract. He knows there is "salting" method, but there is very hard to find "pure" salt here in SWIMs country (read:it is expensive 100g is about 25 $). Also, because harmalines are in citric salt state would NaCl do the trick?

Please,any suggestions for extracting freebase harmalines?

Mixing a/b will spontaneously create a salt. Add a base to seeds/extract and mix with water -> evaporate(Sodium carbonate or calcium hydroxide would be suggested) Maybe an acetone wash or two.. Other salts have been used, but really find these rather weak to ineffective in precipitation imo.

This by no means a worthwhile way(Still have complications).. not quite sure about the shelf life of harmala-citrate, but sure it will be fine?

SWIM have found pure rock salt, NaCl Not much, some 25 g, but pure salt.
SWIM dissolve his crude extract in 200ml of hot distiled water. Right now, SWIM is waiting for some undissolved crap to settle down. Probably SWIM will go to sleep and leave it to settle overnight.

Tomorrow, when SWIM get up, what should he do

Is it better to add some lime after filtering to his solution, and try to pull freebase alkaloids with naphtha, OR to add salt, and wait for harmalines salts to precipitate?

Are harmalines soluble in naphtha? If not, which solvent is the best for this step?
And, even if SWIM chose to use salt, would that make harmaline HCl?
