So, how long can one keep some Rue tea in the fridge (I've got it in a cup covered with saran wrap to prevent quick evap)? Will the goodies hang in there for long? I was wondering if it's the same as with the mimosa tea?

Thanks!

That thread makes no mention of Syrian Rue.

Yeah, no where over the internet is Syrian Rue tea specifically mentioned, that's why I finally posted here...if it can be stored indefinitely (like ayahuasca/mhrb tea), that's fine, I just want to know it from someone who knows a little more than me about this stuff.

Oh I am sorry, the topic is answering only to your second question. Goodies will be okay for really long time.

Quote:

ayahuasca can be stored for a really really long time in the fridge without loosing the actives

the only thing it might do after some weeks is ferment, so the taste might change a little.. It is recommended to boil it up a bit again when you want to drink it, to get rid of any bacteria that might be there and not have been killed in the fermenting process

I think this is true for every tea :<
Nobody will answer you how long can specific tea be stored. We dont know that, even for DMT. I am sure it will last more than year. But it takes only <20 minutes to make tea, so I dont think storing any longer makes sense.

Some kind of white mold or fungus started growing on the surface of a half-filled gallon jug of rue tea. It was stored at room temperature for a couple of weeks and I figure I didn't use enough vinegar. The vinegar smell was gone, it still had a good rue smell, so it wasn't completely spoiled yet. It is for extracting, so I just filtered it out and added some vinegar. I still need to boil it down and do the salting and basing, so I'm not worried about it much. I'm trying to do a cwe-like extraction on rue, 2 gallons from 200 g so far, the third gallon will be boiled to see what's left. The second gallon is much more clear than the first, so I'm hoping that is most of the harmalas. The second gallon, with the ground seeds still soaking, is not showing any cloudiness or mold growth, so I must have put enough vinegar in it, I can still smell the vinegar. The gallons aren't sealed tightly, so maybe some vinegar evaporated.

My tea is very dark, with a very strong rue smell, but it was not yet reduced. I was surprised something grew in it, but apparently it is very possible. Rue is a seed, so it should have some sugars, or things that can be broken down into sugars. I would expect caapi tea being from stem might not ferment so easily, but I'll be more careful with all my harmala teas from now on.

I have just made this observation from some room temperature tea after maybe a week of storage. If rigorously boiled and reduced am I correct in saying it would be fine to consume?
