I was wondering what tryptamine actually is.

I understood it was a class of substances. But, then Tihkal would have stated which tryptamine was used. So is all tryptamine the same? Or is tryptamine a class of substances that also is a certain thing?

From my understanding 'Tryptamine' is a substance in much the same way Dimethyltryptamine is a substance.
The Tryptamine molecule is quite a basic one and is a building block for many psychedelic substances eg. LSD, Psilocybin and DMT. Although Tryptamine itself is not psychedelic.
