Have been viewing as a guest for quite some time now. This is my first post and I want to thank the community for the numerous contributions that have shed light on the chemistry of these wonderful entheogens. That said, enter the fictional character tribo who has partaken in harmaloid extractions through an unstable inter-dimensional time portal and has a few questions for the pros.
Tribo has performed the Manske extraction was performed on peganum harmala seeds to yield c. 5% green brown mixture of harmine/harmaline HCl salts. This extract was further refined by Phlux's acetone precipitation method (50% H2O with dash of lemon juice / 50% Acetone and subsequently refrigerated) to yield a light tan extract. Manske extract and Phlux's acetone refined extract were examined under UV, the refined extract having much greater fluorescence. Manske extracts were also tested by treatment of 50% H2O with a dash of HCl and 50% acetone, however HCl/acetone precipitation was not nearly as effective as Lemon Juice/acetone precipitation. Are the harmala alkaloids obtained via Phlux's acetone precip. tech still HCl salts or were they converted to citrate salts (citric acid most prevalent acid in lemon juice)? Does anyone know of any other acids that may be substituted for the lemon juice for effective purification of harmaloids? Many thanks to Phlux for many generous and insightful contributions!
The above posts are a work of fiction. Tribo and/or friends are entirely fictional characters and do not exist in any physical reality. The activities described by tribo and/or friends are equally fictional and describe hypothetical situations and events that are in fact imaginary. Any resemblance to real people, situations, events, and/or compounds are merely coincidental.
