So I've looked at the vine alkaloid extraction, and it looks pretty easy. I want to try it, but I'm having a hard time understanding it's use in this form. I guess you can use it sublingually, 20-30 minutes before smoking DMT. You can also smoke the alkaloids mixed with cannabis, or other smoke blends.

I guess I'm asking why go the extra mile, what exactly do harmala alkaloids offer over 10x caapi leaf or a brew of straight vine? What's the point?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Well, there are plenty of advantages.

Its easier to dose, more reliable to dose, If you have an scale at least 0.01g or better, and IMHO generally its fun to extract stuff anyway.

As you said, It opens up many other modes of administration, such as smoking/vaporizing, sublingual, or even insnufflation.

And don't forget the ability to make changa with extracted harmalas.

Don't disregard caapi completely though, better to have extracted harmalas, and also enough vine to make tea.

I use extracted alkaloids in two ways: Sublingually prior to DMT vaporization. The advantage versus changa or other smoked methods is that you aren’t inhaling any smoke. Orally I use them as the MAOI for pharma. The advantage there is reduced nausea.

edit:

Forgot this reason: When using extracted alkaloids, you know exactly how much you're consuming. Alkaloid content of vine varies considerably.

Ok, that helps.

Exactly how much alkaloid by weight are you consuming? I think I've read before, but can't remember. Roughly 15-30mg sublingual? and around 200mg (keeping weight and sensitivity in mind) for an oral pharma? and I assume alternately you could just mix 50/50 harmalas/spice and essentially have changa? or would that be too much one or the other?

For sublingual, I use 10mg on the low end and 30-40mg on the high end.

My last pharma dose (last night) was 275mg caapi alkaloids and 100mg DMT. Too much for me! I felt very ill for nearly 7 hours - hour after hour of begging for it to end. In fact, even 20+ hours later, I’m still feeling queasy. (I weigh about 68kg.)

150mg caapi alkaloids is very manageable, but barely enough to provide MAO inhibition.
