I forget which post, but I was recently reading through a post on this forum where someone said that Caapi doesn't actually have the effect on Tyramine that it is ususally claimed to have. Does anyone know anything about this?

My yellow Caapi arrived today, so as I'm preparing to embark on my first journey I want to be sure to do everything right, but as I'm reading about the foods that can interact with MAOI's it seems to cross almost everything off my usual diet.. But I do have a few specific questions maybe people with personal experience can help me with.

I frequent the gym, and as I'm very skinny I'm always trying hard to gain weight, so whey protein mixes are a part of my daily diet. The one I'm using now is whey protein, but has a few other added supplements like Taurine and Creatine. Does anyone know the specifics on this with MAOIs?

What about microwavable foods? Pizza rolls, chef-boy-r-d type things? I remember one time in the past when my father was taking Nardil and accidentally ate some chili that had large amounts of MSG in it and he ended up in the hospital, and though I haven't checked all the ingredients in these microwavable foods yet, I'm wondering what kind of effect they could have.

And with any of the foods that are not recommended, is it simply not recommended in large amounts? Or not at all? For example, I've read that cheeses are one thing to be avoided. This morning I had a cheeseburger. Would the one slice of cheese on that be enough to be problematic?

Caffeine is also something I've heard should be avoided. Does this mean I should forego my usual cup of coffee in the morning? I can do this if I need to, but I would have to take a day or two off without it before the headache it will induce wears off.

I'm sorry if this question seems elementary to some, and I have already used the search engine and read quite a bit.. really what I'm looking for here are peoples personal experiences and diets pre-aya. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Well I have heard that some people take no dietary precautions with little ill effects aside from nausea but I've found few such reports. Most people advise aya diets something like this one

Some people are more sensitive than others. Some people have reported headaches with caffeine or soy products, other people feel no side effects, regarding food. Because Caapi is a RIMA, GENERALLY there seem to be no effects reported worse than a possible headache.

One recurring theme I find in work with Caapi is a clear message about how to live healthier, generally. Any part of your lifestyle that may be detrimental to your health can be brought to your attention. Of course, you have to move at a pace that is comfortable for you. Ayahuasca is an incredible way to really connect with your body at a cellular (and sub-cellular) level. I've spoken with my cells and heard the vibrational hum of my heart! Shocked

However, if you are interested in the Ayahuasca experience, I highly recommend taking the time to learn about dieta, spending the day eating cleanly, setting intentions, etc., and preparing as much as possible. Energy in = energy out. This is to maximize the amazing potential of your own experience!

It is also possible to become extremely sensitive to food combinations with Caapi following an extremely clean diet with regular use of the medicine--this is something I am currently exploring in great depth--but is something that has taken me months to actively acquire. By "sensitive," I mean certain food items can become powerfully psychoactive in homeopathic doses. There is a potential to *foster* incredible sensitivity (probably a combination of efficient absorption and constant state of MAOI?) that is extremely fascinating, but it's more of a fine detail that definitely won't come up if you are drinking for the first, tenth, or probably hundredth time.
