As a Manual Therapist I often work with people who have issues getting grounded in "normal" awareness and there are many different techniques I have encountered over the years that address this. The technique I find myself consistently going to is directed to organizing neurology as the center of X Y Z orientation in space and has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine as well as Applied Kinesiology. It seems to orient the vestibular system with joint and muscle proprioception in the body.
1) Firmly rub (but don't irritate - can be very sensitive) the Popliteus muscles behind both knees
2) Firmly rub both Anterior Deltoid muscles at the front of the shoulders
3) Tap around the Temporal bone, basically tap around the ear, a few times.
4) repeat the sequence a few times.
