the peice of glass was hacked out of an old cfl bulb - plastic tubing attached and plugged into the water pump
pump submerged in ice water - and left to re-x after the pic was taken as a test run for a foto shoot soon

if one had a alcahol proof pump or could make the water salty or somehow unfreezable - then the resevoir could be placed in the freezer

the point was to get the xtals to grow off the bottom without using a grid and dropping in the seed xtal at exactly the right time - i usually put the seed in to early to this takes care of that.

when i was a child making energetic compounds i just added some small bottle of pink antifreeze i found in my desk. it was from liquid computer cooling, an even older hobby. i kept my pump in the resi and the resi in the freezer with 2 3/8th in tubes running thru the seal. used it when producing nitric and nitrous acid. also used it to collect noxious vapors by sucking air thru it with an aspirator. most would collect in the grahmm and bubble out the top.

worked wonders for my G condenser. i cant wait to see yr pics. i tried the string thing once and it didnt work well. but i can find ever stray dog hair that floats into the evap jar. the bulk up with xtals very very quickly and are most commonly what i find has formed my large xtals sometimes. my dog has real fluffy hair..... shits everywhere.

i wonder if u took a metal tube, seal it on one end, placed it in boiling/super saturated hot heptane, and then slid some broken up dry ice down into the tube with i dunno, some pure methanol u could get all of it to shock out and grab to the tube.

other plan - was to attach a metal bar to a old processor cooling pack - u know those things with the molex connector that u put between the heatsink and cpu - the lil fridge paq.

i looove pelt chips. its such an awesome function of EM. tota bummer if it cracks tho. then yr -70c processor has a 1/8th of an inch non conductive blanket on it lol.

dunno if id bother for this. unless u put it, a tiny pump, and a tiny cosed resi with a il antifreeze in a small box. so its liek one nice small unit. but a boit excessive.
