(This TEK looks safe imo, hopefully it is counted as safe by the experts here as well, otherwise remove pls)
Learning 1: Dont drink while cooking.Ofc i dont mean water xD.
Because the cooking procedure was so long i just drank 1 and and half beer.
I got tired really quickly. The cooking procedure felt much longer.
Learning 2: Dont multitaskDuring the boiling phase i thought it would be very smart to wash the dishes in the meantime as the boiling would take a while.
The lid was placed on the pod while boiling.
When the temperature is too hot bubbles were forming and overflew the pod.
This was a very big mess and I lost some bark.
This happened a few times till I stopped multitasking and I identified the right temperature.
Learning 3: Dont use so much bark. Many in the chat told me that. And after my first Session i completly agree.
I just wasted so much. I think the reason why I did use so much bark was that i really wanted some pulls as i wanted to experience my first session.
The next time i will do an 100g extractions.
Learning 4: There are heat and not heat resistant ph meters.Non heat resistant ph meters stop working when measuring hot mixtures.
Dont waste your money.
Learning 5: Tighten your resp mask.Dont underestimate the gases from the solvent.
You can feel dizziness and get headaches.
Tighten your mask.
Learning 6: Use thick and long chemical resistant gloves. The thin single use gloves are garbage.
Your jar and its lid get very hot in the hot water bath.
That resulted in a bit of acrobatics xD.
Learning 7: Use a jar with a high lid/thread.When shaking the solvent in the jar the content is really hot.
Pressure builds in the jar and some content can flow out.
I also lost a bit of bark and solvent here as well.
Use a good jar.
Learning 8: When there is no noticeable solvent layer forming. With a broken ph meter and no ph stripes i wasnt able to add the correct amount of lye.
I basically added too less lye and an emulsion was forming with the goo and solvent.
With the help of the chat, i was able to solve it.
The goo wasnt dark enough which indicated that too less lye was contained.
I added lye in 20g steps and shaked then checked if a layer was visible.
Thanks to the chat:With the help of the chat I was able to solve many obstacles.
I feel uncertain about mention names directly in this thread.
But hopefully you feel addressed
