I love mentioning Saturnalia to people who just blindly go along with what theyre told, and those who actually get curious enough to see the real roots of christmas come back to me with this look on their face that they realized their whole life has been a lie hahaha. Big grin

Yeah, interesting what roots western culture has. Currently, there's also the Wild Hunt taking place (21 Dec - 2 Jan). So better look out for evil spirits. And for divine $$$ Drool

Quote:
The majority of the tales deal with some person encountering the Wild Hunt. If this person stands up against the hunters, he will be punished. If he helps the hunt, he will be awarded money, gold or, most often, a leg of a slain animal or human, which is often cursed in a way that makes it impossible to be rid of it. In this case, the person has to find a priest or magician able to ban it, or trick the Wild Hunt into taking the leg back by asking for salt, which the hunt can not deliver. In many versions, a person staying right in the middle of the road during the encounter is safe.

Fast post will read other posts later

about to eat turkey with wifes family

I grew up with my mum who is a Jehovahs witness and they dont celebrate Xmas
because it is not told in the bible to celebrate jesus's BDAY
and because lots of people in the old Bible have asked for horrible presents like heads on platers and the sorts

i personally dont believe its the birth date of old Hezus jesus

but i like the season to be jolly if only for a week or so, even if the people dont see how fake they are being

i think i like it most because half my life, so far, it was the time of year when SCHOOL ENDED FOR A MONTH !!!!

heres a video-clip which sums up how i think about christmas and mushrooms with a sound track

For me christmas is just annoying.

The whole 'gift giving' thing is a misnomer. Its not gift giving, its reciprocity. Trade. Thats why there are To and From tags, so you know who you owe. Every year people who barely know me give me unwanted 'gifts' that dont match my personality or lifestyle at all and suddenly with no consent from me I'm perceived as being in debt to them.

Its also a time of year when people try to force their strange foreign religion on me.
I already have a religion, and I dont want theirs.

Some of the christmas lights people put up are just blinding, its a traffic hazard.

Contagion. People get all dripping with flu or the cold, bronchitis, flesh eating nipple fungus, what ever, and then they spread it all around because they 'have to celebrate christmas'.

Junk food. Family members force me to try their revolting and abhorrent junk food theyre poisoning themselves with and they get offended if I dont try their slop.

I dont much care what other people do in their religion, I just wish they would keep it in their bedroom and not annoy others.

Cool Hug,are you suggesting that someone consume alcohol at their workplace, during work!?!

Maybe not if you are operating heavy machinery.

Good for you, i second that emotion! Personally, I'd suggest some odorless cannabis extracts in a vape pen, but hey Xmas is all about tradition, am i wrong?

Love ya man.

Yep, cannabis"ll work too. I am actually better at operating heavy machinery after a joint. Take care of yourself and have a good chrimbo Null.
