So, there is already a movie and book bin thread. But those are for "good" movies and books. But what about movies and books that transcend all of the just "good" works, and are part of your essential watching/reading? This thread is to compile all the timeless classics. If there were going to be a vault with limited but undefined size, what movies and books would you want preserved for all of time? This isn't a compilation of just what you like. It's to compile works that are accessible to anyone. Otherwise, i would be spamming Dragon Ball, but it's fairly inaccessible to those who haven't watched any of it, so it won't go on my list. Please separate the categories. Movies are self explanatory, with books being classed as fiction, non-fiction and philosophy. TV show category is also good. If there need to be more categories, i'm all ears. Or eyes, since this is a text medium. If you've already posted your list and want to make additions, just edit your existing post to make a more cohesive personal list. Write all of your timeless masterpieces, and don't worry about having repeated entries by other people. The more prevalent a certain work is, the more it speaks for its value. If you see something on someone else's list, and you wholeheartedly agree with that addition, add it to your own. My list (so far): MOVIES:12 Angry Men The Matrix Trilogy Groundhog Day Shaolin (2011) Fearless BOOKS:FICTION:Dune by Frank Herbert Brave New World by Aldous Huxley 1984 by George Orwell The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran Three Body Problem trilogy by Cixin Liu Siddhartha by Herman Hesse Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams NON-FICTION:How to Make Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking PHILOSOPHY:Meditations by Marcus Aurelius History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russell Tao Te Ching by Laozi TV SHOWS:Black Mirror Silicon Valley Avatar: The Last Airbender The Simpsons Futurama Breaking Bad The Green Room with Paul Provenza Rick and Morty The Boondocks Seinfeld "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools."

I don't know about the lord of the rings trilogy...the art direction is awesome, but the character development and some of the acting is a bit flat. I still love it though.

Mars Atacks is really something. It was too cold for me to love it but after I came back from my first dmt trip I remembered that movie and said "Aha! Thats where the weirdness from that movie came from." And I am speaking about the "collective unconcious" or whatever one wants to call it, which is the source of creation and subsequently art, these being the expressions of the universe. 2001 A Space Odyssey โNuff said. JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.
