Hey guys,

I know there are plenty of topics on here regarding advice on grinding your mimosa bark to a powder, but I have a couple devices I am considering purchasing and I'm not sure which one would be best. I currently don't have anything to start with, no blender or coffee grinder at home or anything. Here's what I am looking at.

I have 500g of shredded bark, but I only plan on doing 100g at a time and will freeze them before hand. I also am purchasing these for cutting the shredded bark

1) Coffee Grinder - This seems like a pretty common tool, but many people say to use a blender first. I don't have one, so would it be useful on its own if I cut the pieces small enough?

2) Ninja Blender - I'm not sure how effective these will be, but I could also see it being used for other things, assuming the blades last. I've heard they are good devices in general, but idk about for this.

3) Electric Mill - In theory, this seems like it could be the best option, but idk. Has anybody used anything like this? If so, would it be good enough to get a fine powder? It is the most expensive solution and I can't see it being used for anything else, but if does a good job maybe it is worth it.

4) I don't have a specific product, but the last option would be to just find a good glass blender and maybe also get the coffee grinder.

What do you guys think. I'd love to hear your opinions on which you think would be best and your experience with anything similar.

Cheers

-J

Blend it frozen, it will powder easier. More horsepower is what u are after, vitamix is great. Always put in water with it (not too much, not too little).

I used coffee grinder for mimosa in the past with good results.
but now I don't bother with it and just use shredded bark directly and let the hydroxide (and time) to penetrate the plants cells.
I do not like fine dust made by grinding.

I have a blendtec blender. It won't powder your bark. Even when it's frozen first. You will get a very fine shred but not powder. I haven't used any other methods because the shred it gives is good enough and I like to use a pressure cooker for my acid boil so no need for powder. If I was determined to get something to give me a fine powder I would definitely try a ball mill. They are designed for industrial use so they will last a long time compared to a coffee grinder which tons of people have reported the bark will inevitably destroy the coffee grinder eventually. Ball mills also don't require you to be manually feeding the bark in the whole time it's working. Just load it up, switch it on and leave it to do its thing.

Also, if you're doing an A/B tek, I'd highly recommend forgetting about powdering your material and just buying a pressure cooker. They do an amazing job of getting to the dmt trapped within in the bark. Have a look at the link bellow.

Hey, thanks for the link. Can you help me understand what makes it an A/B tek vs STB? I was originally following this guys process, which doesn't include any acid bath. Do you recommend not following that? His results did look pretty yellow, but he seems to understand the chemistry side of things.

thanks

Have a read through this tek. It explains the process extremely well:

There's no right or wrong tek to be doing. Everyone has their own opinions of which one is best. I personally like doing a tek very similar to the one I posted previously. The reason I like doing that is because I like using a pressure cooker as I believe it's the most efficient and quickest way to get the dmt out of the bark. I still haven't made a full spectrum goo yet but that is my next endeavor. I've read a lot of good things about the goo and am looking forward to trying it myself. I'll be using this tek:

I had good luck with a coffee grinder and 100g MHRB. Came out finely shredded/powdered at about a 30% powdered, 70% finely shredded like cheese but much smaller. I used very sharp scissors to cut it into smaller shreds before grinding. Pull came out great, but the powder poofs get annoying when you open it and bammmm! face full of MHRB lol. I tried a cheap Ninja and it caused more frustration so do not get the knock off's, you will get about 4 seconds in and smell that motor cooking, the knock off Ninja was a horrible idea so ya deff stay away from those as the motors go out fast.

Thanks for all the good info. I ended up finding a good price on eBay for the cereal mill. I think that will do a good job, but time will tell. I will update the thread when I finally use it so others can know if it works well or not. This is the one I ended up getting. I got the 350g version because the specs said it was much more powerful than the 150g.

Bit late to reply because you already bought something, but a 1500W blender for 30 seconds does the trick

Which kind of blender do you have? I have a Blendtek which is 1560W. Will make a fine shred some of which is powdered. Tried using it at various angles, different amounts of bark, frozen and unfrozen, always make sure the bark is fully dried and still can't get a full powder. Is there a technique you follow to get it powdered with your blender?

lethargicsuperhero, it's an Aicok blender, only cost me £50 off amazon. I just put the MHRB in it dry and blend for 30 seconds

For bark use a ninja blender or any powerful blender. Coffee grinder isn't powerful enough to do the job.

Just an update. I powdered 100g using the mill device I mentioned and it worked amazing actually. I've read a lot on here about people breaking blenders / grinders or getting them stuck, but this thing powdered it in minutes with no struggle at all. I was very impressed. The end result was a very fine powder. I highly recommend it for anybody looking for a solution, and for only 50 bucks, it is not bad.

One thing to note though, I did loose some product because I did not realize how hot this thing would get. It gets extremely how, to the point where it burned some of the product to the surface of the inside of the device. This was user error though because I let it run for 5 minutes straight. Next time, I will run it for a minute, check it, run it for another minute, repeat. So if anybody picks one up, just remember that.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the powder result. I did just finish scraping the result of the first pull though and I was pleasantly surprised. I yielded about .7 g of and end result of 70g powder. I still plan on doing 3 or 4 more pulls as well, so I think the yields should be very good! ( especially for my first ever extraction Pleased ) It is also much whiter than I thought it would be, and this is before re-x. So Exciting!
