Hiya lads, Just watched Dr. Phil on the JRE, and it was a very enjoyable episode. They discussed some interesting topics, such as: • The overmedication issue • Mental illness stigma • Raising awareness about treatment practices and effects of medication • Pills vs. Therapy • Opioid epidemic • Deception detection and interrogation techniques • Psychological aspect of athletics • The concept of self-attribution of characteristics and traits, and the effect this has on our perceived self-worth and the formation of our identity • The importance of failure as a fundamental part of success Before that podcast I had impressions of him based solely on his TV show, but after watching this I realize he's actually a very intelligent guy that has a healthy and methodical approach to treatment. I like him now. Apparently a huge portion of the psychotherapists around the globe may look at him as a joke and an insult to the practice, but I don't really have an opinion on that. I just judge him solely based on that podcast and the ideas and philosophy he portrayed in it, which I see nothing wrong with. If you're interested, take a look: Peace & Love

Not the best or most entertaining podcast, but it helped me sleep last night and I ended up seeing that Dr. Phil is an actual human being Todo lo que quiero es que me recuerdes siempre así...amándote. I always liked Dr. Phil, he seems like a pretty good dude. Now if Joe Rogan could just get Dr. Phil to try some DMT, that would be a great podcast!! I love the Rogan podcast and was shocked to see Dr. Phil on there. And, dammit, it was an excellent lesson in preconceived notions and the harm that comes from judging others with little to no real personal insight. I have never seen a Dr. Phil show, but I judged him anyway as a fraud. And, ironically, Rogan's own old comedy bit about Dr. Phil "Just bullshittin' the world...'look at my mustache, my tie is in place,' etc," helped fuel my blanket judgement. I was listening thinking, Goddammit, Dr. Phil is one reasonable motherfucker. (It will be interesting to see just how much the Joe Rogan Podcast has helped mold the collective unconscious. I think his influence and power is highly underrated) Fear, belief, love phenomena that determined the course of our lives. These forces begin long before we are born and continue after we perish. We cross and recross our old paths like figure skaters; our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future. ---David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas

To tell you the truth I just tossed him in with the Jerry Springer type middle of the day shows. I first caught wind that he may be a good guy was when I heard Ron White tell a story about them hanging out. Bad news is I flunked one of his lie detectors because I start off with “to be honest” all the time, and I mean it. I didn’t know I was going to be psychoanalyzed as a liar Alex Jones is on tonight. I will be interested to read everyone’s take on the conversation.

Yeah man I was on the edge of my seat all the time, waiting for the crucial "...that's crazy, man. Have you tried DMT?" 112233 wrote:And, dammit, it was an excellent lesson in preconceived notions and the harm that comes from judging others with little to no real personal insight. I have never seen a Dr. Phil show, but I judged him anyway as a fraud. Absolutely. The only parts of Dr. Phil's show I've seen is on CinnamonToastKen's YouTube channel where he sits on a couch with another dude and they watch some weird guests at his show and laugh about it, basically making memes out of his show. Then I watched this, and realized Phil is indeed one intelligent dude that on top of things is quite humble and selective in his choice of words. I believe that the latter is always a sign of intelligence. 112233 wrote:(It will be interesting to see just how much the Joe Rogan Podcast has helped mold the collective unconscious. People in the advertising business say that there's no such thing as too much publicity, but that doesn't bode well with extremely stigmatized substances such as psychedelics. People are just too uneducated to have a rational, sound opinion on the matter, and tend to believe fraudulent media outlets that vomit out questionable claims about said substances in such an irritating way. I guess time will tell.

Joe Rogan does broach "controversial" topics. He's well aware of who his handlers are, however. Otherwise he'd be shut down. Alex Jones brought up "they", then referenced the oxycontin crisis...dog whistle for the Sackler family. Rogan knows the score, but stays "in bounds". Jones was a bit too explicit naming, "they". Consequently he was, demonetized. This is going on bigly, if one cares to notice. Sad and scary!

Peace But you can just find that thing about oxycontin and sackler on wikipedia. It's common knowledge. Just like it is common knowledge that the sandy hook shooting was not fake and pizzagate is. People who's child was being shot have received death threats from some of alex jones' fans. A guy tried to shoot people who where just eating pizza.

Not a huge fan of Rogan, Jones or Phil. The depressing realization is the obvious(not CT) commingling 'twixt, global governance, finance and surveillance. It is currently undeniable that, opinions, speech and ideas that are deemed, "offensive", can, must and will be squelched!
The general trend in the West, post WW2, has been a desire to, and acceptance of, criminalizing unsavory opinions and speech. Of late, SCOTUS has refused to recognize, "hate speech" OR "hate crime", in particular. Incitement to ACTS of violence, excluded!
We embrace an era in which, wrong think and wrong speak, are, de-facto criminalized. Individuals who engage in such "atrocity", are doxxed, vilified, demonetized and stripped of credentials, even if, extra-judicially.
My sense is that this is, WRONG, and eminently PROVOCATIVE!
PS: This thread might should be moved to, POLITICS.
Peace

Yes, i agree. Better to have freedom of speech and be insulted once in a while, than the other way round.
