for sure

just wish i could remember most of them !!

also sometimes recently, during waking hours, like when I'm out riding my bike or something.. I get kind of 'information download' where I receive insights about the nature of reality and existence.

I had one of the best DMT trips of my life a few weeks ago..in a dream.

It was red crystals..not like the jungly stuff, but actual ruby red crystals..It was my friends roommates and she wanted us to try it..so I smoked some it was so clear..the geometry as so beautiful and it was really really euphoric..

I also had a really cool dream once and me and jimmi hendrix were smoking salvia! Jimmi loved it!
Long live the unwoke.

That's one of the main things that is looked forward to, once you start smoking spice, what is dreaming like? It's the same chemical, just, in different form.

No....

Hyperspace and dreams are completely different IMO...

Please don't spread this kind of misunderstanding.

These things are far more complex.

I completely agree. Although in the literature it says that DMT is released during dreaming, that does not mean that dreaming is due to DMT, or that DMT is dreaming, or any other number of utterly stupid confugulations of said research.

Dmt doesn't cause dreams. Dreams the experience, and dreaming the process are quite different; although connected. Everyone knows the process is where your brain waves change and the brain goes into a sort of feedback loop where it process its own output. Basically, dreams are what you experience when you are nolonger experiencing the world.

Experiencing other planes of existance inside your dreams? Totally. As an astral projector, I have to say that you can only experience the non-physical when you are ready to leave the physical behind. Theta waves! Or, on a heapload of everyones favourite crystaline mollecule. Very happy

so its been almost 1 1/2 months since i last smoked dmt when i burned it into my skin bla bla bla and still all the time i'm having these crazy dreams a lot of which are nightmares and scary and i end up waking up from.. and now last night or this morning whatever it just got taken to the next level..

in my dream i was a player in some type of game but real.. i had objectives to complete to get through each room/level and i was accomplishing these objectives until i came into this large open room that was full of dark murky water that i was wading in and in the center of the room was a massive sphere shaped object that seemed to either be filled with air or fluid but was definitely not solid..

there was a man in the room.. and he was telling me that i needed to tear open the sphere, and that when i did i needed to inhale deeply, and that it would give me the best feeling i've ever felt in my life.. i was hesitant though.. i was not sure i wanted to do this.. and so the man then said "dont worry.. we are going to do it for you".. i then thought ok.. and stepped back...

sure enough, the sphere was ripped open and i inhaled deep.. and what ensued is exactly as you ride up that slide into the dmt world into where nothing is as you know it... i was in the nothingness... but i knew exactly where i was.. this was not just a vivid dream people... no i was THERE!!!... there seemed to be stringy net-like webbing everywhere and many colors of pink and purple and shades of red..

being back in that world without my own doing caused me to panic.. and i realized i was dreaming and started to pull out of it.. i felt myself convulsing, seizuring, and as i continued to wake realized i HAD been seizuring and slowly stopped but with the images and feeling of the dmt world still strong in my mind... i read that some others have dreamed about taking drugs before, which i have too, but has THIS ever happened to anyone else where you actually experience the EFFECTS? it is freaking me out...

it's one thing if you smoke dmt and by your own will you enter that world but when it takes you for a ride when you dont ask i wonder will this be the last time?

I haven't read through this entire thread, but I'm assuming that others have corrected PerPlexed. There is no proof that DMT is responsible for our dreaming. That is only a theory by one man. Aside from that however, yes, myself and many others have absolutely experienced full blown DMT experiences while dreaming. For me it has only been once or twice, during time of heavy use (most likely abuse) of the substance. It happens. It's amazing. My guess is that it is warning sign that you are using the substance too often, but that is only MY theory. It's pretty cool though, don't you think? I certainly thought it was!

Peace,

i'm tellin ya, it's the memory of a dmt experience you may have in a dream, not an actual dmt experience.
there's no evidence at all that active doses of dmt are produced during REM sleep, or ANY time of the day (it's present in low nanomolar concentrations). this is why Rogan is a tool.

And with this so eloquently put
I must add that memories have been known to leek in from the future,
and they've also been known to cross-fade with other observers in the dream state.

Some of my most amazing experiences have been in my sleep.

I've actually been taking aya in the morning then going back to sleep where I trip in much more satisfying ways than consuming it normal. Thing is though, this is without fail, it's a 100% successful rate if I consume enough then go back to sleep. It's just glorious. There must be just a handfull of people that know about this and are doing it.

I rather frequently brew up half a hand full of chopped up caapi at night time for a little while and drink before bed.
The visions are incredible (before sleep) and the sleep is the best ever. I always wake up feeling amazing!

Caapi is really good, I love-it. And yeah, even caapi alone is quite visual for me, and using it for sleep it's really easy to disconnect and have more dimensions when sleeping. You don't even need that much of it either this way.

What I've been using for ages now is mimosa and caapi for my sleep sessions. It's my favourite combo. I only take it though about 1-2 times a week like that (Early in the morning on my days off).

I've fallen asleep on all sorts of hallucinogens, but when drinking my potion of mimosa and caapi at a point where I can fall a sleep within minutes, I get these incredible experiences. I feel blessed, trully.

benzyme - I follow what you're saying, and I absolutely agree that Rogan is a tool. I do have some questions as to whether these experiences are just memories of a DMT experience however, or if it is a true DMT experience. The fact is that we are pumping a lot of this molecule into our brains when we are journeying regularly. We really don't know enough about how recreational use of DMT is stored or how it effects our brains during sleep. I think it's possible that these are real, full blown DMT experiences while we are sleeping. The first time it happened to me, I wasn't able to break through for months afterward, suggesting that some psychological change happened in my brain that night. It did eventually come back to me, but I would not be surprised if heavy use does a bit of neuro-chemistry juggling that could certainly result in an actual trip while sleeping.

I can say that the two that I had were full blown. I had all of the visuals, all of the physical body high, and all of the mental effects that go along with a typical journey. These experiences were completely independent of any "conscious" trip that I've had. They weren't memories of a previous trip. They were full blown trips of their own. Also, the fact that I had trouble breaking through for at least several weeks after the first DreaMT tells me that something is "changing" in ones brain.

McKenna discussed this same phenomenon as well.

Just some thoughts. Not saying anyone is right or wrong. I'm just saying that we can't rule out the possibilities.

Peace!

that's the problem
DMT doesn't get stored, it gets produced when AADC converts tryptamine, and the methylating enzyme INMT is expressed.
There isn't heavy pumping of any molecule when you sleep, especially not DMT. The brain has evolved mechanisms to protect itself from sensory overload. Acetylcholine and glycine receptor systems are active during REM sleep, the 5HT receptor system is not.

another possibility I've proposed is the tandem actions of pinoline and dmt during restful states with eyes closed, but not fully asleep; again, during REM sleep, 5HT is inactive (dmt binds 5HT receptors).

Since I started this post, I've had a total of FOUR actual dmt trips in my dreams. With each time the intensity of the trip declined though. A couple were pretty damn scary, but after the last one which was like a little over a month and 1/2 ago, it hasnt happened again, however I still have incredibly intense dreams where my vision focuses to reveal intricate details like reading fine print on pieces of paper or seeing tiny pieces of dirt in water or beautiful detailed designs.

I had many nightmares though at first in between those four dreams with the trips and in the last of the dmt dreams there were some type of beings looking for me and were looking for something i seemed to have. I was trying to hide from them and make them believe that I did not have what they wanted. I felt an invisible force reach up inside of me looking for it, and as it did so I reached my arms out and dug my fingers into one of the beings mouth and eye sockets and reached deep into their throat to choke them and felt my mind slip away into dmt land and then woke up shortly.

I fell back asleep a while later though and had a dream in which someone very dear to me who i do not often dream about appeared to me. My dream went on and on and he was there all the way smiling, almost as if to comfort me, like he knew I needed it, since then I have not had nightmares or any more dmt scary dreams.

I look back into my dreams in the past in my days before I would ever do drugs, and my dreams would contain monsters and aliens and all types of characters and situations so far from reality they often seemed to not make sense. I think this was because my own concept of reality and the way i was living my life was in itself far from reality and not making sense. I've changed a lot since then and so have my dreams...

I no longer dream of fairy tale animals or non-existent monsters, my dreams are now far closer to home, closer to reality. My dreams are like a reflection of reality in fact, with little details sometimes being strange or random. And often things come to pass in my dreams, and without my expecting, come to pass in reality LATER. The other night I had a dream I was at work, and I realized I was dreaming as I often do in dreams. I happened to remember how many people say if you realize you are dreaming that you can control it, and for the first time in a dream I was able to try to direct my dream. It didnt work Sad Guess I'll try again next time.

My dreams have become very meaningful to me, and as I draw nearer or farther away from people (in spirit) in my life, I will draw nearer or farther away from them in my dreams- they will be closer or farther away. Strange.

As far as my actual trips in my dreams, I agree with idtravir and I feel that they were due to an excess of dmt in my system that may or may not have continued to be absorbed or trapped in layers of my skin or who knows where. My dream dmt trips were completely different from those when i was awake. Being in the dream state sleeping while some more dmt that had been trapped seeped through could have caused my after experience in dream trips. Anyway Im glad they stopped cuz they werent a great experience for me.

I had a dream the other night of a pcp experience, but it's not because I had pcp in my system.
haven't had it in 15 years.

something else to think about: endogenous dmt doesn't linger, it gets rapidly metabolized by MAO.

so i guess it must be tied to memory afterall or perhaps not who knows. it would be nice to have all the answers wouldnt it.

Even if we assume it is DMT release that causes dreams or other strange yet frequent sleeping phenomena the theory does not pan out considering what we DO KNOW about DMT and the Brain, Like Benyzene says it does not last long and is not stored by the brain. For this to be a feasible hypothesis the human body/brain would need to be producing large amounts of DMT on a regular basis to produce this phenoema.

Even if we assume it is capable of such a thing the continual release of DMT would cause the Brain would develop a tolerance to DMT. So for this to be true DMT would need to be introduced to the brain in ever increasing levels as time goes on. We know this is not the case.

I once had 6 datura s. seeds before bed. After battling to actually get to sleep I had a dream that I got a job in a large department store. it was so real that it was stupid. There'd be meetings in the staff lounge to discuss achievement point schemes, then I wake up. The I'd struggle back to sleep and start the same dream. Next some guy was showing me how to stack TV's. Then I'd wake up again. Back to sleep and the manager was discussing how I'd been getting on on my first day saying I was catching on pretty well and have been working hard so I should take a break and have a wonder about the store to get farmiliar with where everything is. So I was walking about the place and came to the pets section. It was a really big place that seemed to sell everything Smile But anyway in the pet section I mosied over to the aquarium supplies and looked in the fish tanks and the fish I saw were straight out of a heavy DMT trip.

It was so weird that everything else in the dream had been so stuck to the reality anyone could expect working in a big department store down to the tiniest detail, then I saw these amazing "fish" Smile Then I slept through solid until I woke up.

In conclusion dartura s. is a shit sleep aid. I mean really it is, but the dream I had was so strange.

I've never had any dreams I could recall the night after smoking DMT.
