I've read a lot of great quotes tucked away in various thread on this board. Since we seem to have a lot of great thinkers within this community, I thought in may be worth while to have a thread dedicated to our favorite quotes.

Please post any quotes that you find to be memorable, profound or inspirational. I'll start with a simple one that I've always liked.

"believe those who seek truth, doubt those who find it"

"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail" - Benjamin Franklin

I love that one! That is my favorite quote.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - Too many people are credited with this quote to know for sure who actually coined it.

That’s a great quote with so many meanings.

"The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax." - Albert Einstein

That one craps me up!

"The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education." - Albert Einstein

That quote is pure genius. There’s a hidden meaning in that one and it’s very clever.
You may remember me as 69Ron. I was suspended years ago for selling bunk products under false pretenses. I try to sneak back from time to time under different names, but unfortunately, the moderators of the DMT-Nexus are infinitely smarter than I am.

Here's about 10 quotes I like, plus the ones in my sig. Sorry if it's too much. If it is good thing my PC crashed and I lost my "Quotes" file with hundreds of quotes Very happy

Is GOD willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him GOD?
- Epicurus

Giving every man a vote has no more made men wise and free than Christianity has made them good. - H. L. Mencken

Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative. - Oscar Wilde

I'm in favor of legalizing drugs. According to my values system, if people want to kill themselves, they
have every right to do so. Most of the harm that comes from drugs is because they are illegal. - Milton Friedman

The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his
will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral,
is not a sufficient warrant. -- John Stuart Mill

"If we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to
take it from them but to inform their discretion by education" - Thomas Jefferson

Anyway, no drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the source of our
troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them
for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power. - P. J. O'Rourke

I've never had a problem with drugs. I've had problems with the police. - Keith Richards

I have sworn upon the alter of God eternal hostility against every
form of tyranny over the mind of man. -- Thomas Jefferson

It is the besetting vice of democracies to substitute public opinion for law. This is the usual form in which the
masses of men exhibit their tyranny. -- James Fenimore Cooper

The most difficult struggle of all is the one within ourselves. Let us not get accustomed and adjusted to these
conditions. The one who adjusts ceases to discriminate between good and evil. He becomes a slave in body and soul.
Whatever may happen to you, remember always:
Don't adjust! Revolt against the reality! -- Mordechai Anielewicz
Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. - Bokonon

To fathom Hell or soar angelic, just take a pinch of psychedelic. - Humphry Osmond in a poetic exchange with Aldous Huxley

Here's one i try to live my life by:

Peace
It does not mean to be in a place
where there is no noise, trouble

the midst of those things and
still be calm in your heart.
