... understanding....we think, e.g. minimalism. Smile

..largely using cheap, some used, yet rugged working-quality stuff with little or not much prestige attached.

Of course we'd loike the whole trangia (sweden) cook set, but we can't afford these. So we use a chinese clone of the trangia cook set. Bought a chinese kettle that fits inside the folded set and voila, kitchen. We use a real full size, non-folding fork/spoon (not a spork). The only genuine trangia item we own is the trangia multi-disc, which serves as a cutting board, lid and pasta strainer...etc.

Then knifes, we use a hultafors gk heavy duty knife, it's cheaper & better then a mora of similar style and ruggedness and it can be filed on the back to give a nicer spark. We did some other modifications on the knife...and the sheath.

... a large british surplus mtp basha tarp, which is one of our moar pricey items... and (cheap) paracord....this basha is really good tho, we love it.

No hammock here. No axe here either. We don't make fire in the woods.

For sleeping we do have a swizz surplus sleeping bag (seldom use it) and a british surplus bivi, a surplus folding isolation mat, should we have to sleep outside in the rain or snow. We also have a US poncho.

Having a little (hanging) lamp with a diffuser and a head light and one of the cree power LED flash lights and extra diffuser wand.

We use normal clothing. Obviously the 120l bergen is a prestige items, so we stopped using it (sold it). Instead we use the bags on our bicycle (mostly) and a small rucksack. We don't need 120 liters really....

We also carry a small monocular, since we love birds....and sometimes we carry this cheap collapsible rugged vaporizer.

Not into the moar expensive stuffs. That would defeat the purpose....we think.

Thumbs up

One can never have too much paracord.

That Trangia cook set looks pretty neat. But I like to keep it very light on wilderness adventures. Only one small pot with lid and a spork- all titanium and made in Japan. I use an alcohol burner made from the bottoms of two soda pop cans.

Trangia is a gem. Works in high winds (works even better) and it will not fall over as easily as the towery gas cannister burners. As a testament to the trangia's effectiveness at containing the heat even in high winds, I burnt the multi disc on one side, causing it to partially melt. Sad
