As you can see in the picture below i purchased some pyrex flasks for dmt extractions. The specifications said it was made out of Borosilicate Glass. Someone just told me in the chat forum that pyrex no longer uses borosilicate and that its now made out of tempered soda-lime glass. How safe is tempered soda lime glass for dmt extractions?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Well you heard that from me and you dont need to forget that I was talking about !!kitchen!! pyrex.
Lab glass like test tubes and such are still made out of borosilicate.

And the difference for us is that heat baths and such risk more cracking. But temperate soda-lime is still better than normal glass. And I have never exploded normal glass yet. You just need to evade sudden temperature changes over 10°C and huge tempearature gradients like heating one end of the glass with a blowtorch with the other one at room temperature.

Also normal glass is easier to etch away with NaOH and KOH.

Pyrex glass with the code 7740 is made out of borosilicate.

I don't remember you saying anything about kitchen pyrex. I remember you saying that they changed pyrex in the states and that my Pyrex made in Germany was prob fake. It says PYREX Made in Germany No.4980. I think im just going to call the company tomorrow.

What colour is it, viewed in daylight?

Borosilicate glows sky blue at the edges.

But soda glass is green.
“I sometimes marvel at how far I’ve come - blissful, even, in the knowledge that I am slowly becoming a well-evolved human being - only to have the illusion shattered by an episode of bad behaviour that contradicts the new and reinforces the old. At these junctures of self-reflection, I ask the question: “are all my years of hard work unraveling before my eyes, or am I just having an episode?” For the sake of personal growth and the pursuit of equanimity, I choose the latter and accept that, on this journey of evolution, I may not encounter just one bad day, but a group of many.”

The only glass I've popped was soda glass. Sweetie jar of room temp sludge into a (too) hot water bath. Thank god the (stainless steel) pan was big enough for the sludge. It would always be if you do it right, thinking about it - which must surely be an argument for using a water bath rather than a hotplate (magnetic stirrer notwithstanding).

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

I find it pretty hard to believe that your pyrex glass Erlenmeyer is NOT borosilicate... If it is indeed lab glass.

You must be mistaken, pyrex still uses borosilicate. They switched to the cheaper stuff for kitchenware, pie plates, measuring cups, etc.

It would make sense why I took a pyrex pie dish out of the oven set it on the cold stove element and it shattered into 10000 pieces.

I purchased 2 1000ml Narrow Mouth Erlenmeyer Flasks off of 2 different sellers. 1 looks blue and the other more green. Maybe one is a fake. I made a phone call and they said that all of the Laboratory Glassware is made out of borosilicate.

Its not just 7740 that's made out of borosilicate. I looked into it.
