Dear members,

I have completely removed the original topic due to these factors:

NO RATIONALIZATION

Several people were bluntly posting what was on their mind without taking into account what the impact of those words would be on other members. It also seemed that a lot of posts were made without even reading, understanding and acknowledging what other members wrote.

NO EMPATHY

It was explicitly stated by a member why there is fear for the person self, the family, the friends and the people around this person. At least have the descency to empathize with this person and understand where this fear is coming from before shrugging it of as something that is not important or irrational. Also, you cannot decide how other people feel! If you think it is needed you can only help change what other people feel with rational reasoning.

MISUNDERSTANDINGS

I saw a few people making posts where I know that they mean it in a more 'devils advocate' way, but if you do not know those people as well as I do then you could easily misinterpred those words. So for these people: in the future be clear when you are playing devils advocate or sarcastic.

WHAT NOW?

I understand that a lot of people are sad, dissapointed and even angry about the USA election results. But reverting to shooting at each other like the presidential candidate teams did does not fly on the DMT-Nexus, you of all people should be aware about what the other sides(!) are trying to communicate.

Now stop polarizing each other and remember that the only time where polarization makes sense is when we talk about our extraction solvents!

I am guilty of starting the thread. And i have also made some sarcastic remarks myself.
I'm sorry for the mess it turned out to be.

But there's just one thing i want to say.

If people are not willing, or capable, to put themselves in the other persons shoes, then there is no perspective, no hope, no future.
Without that, the path we're on becomes a one-way street that innevitably leads to destruction.

That is not just my own subjective opinion.
That's an objective fact.

So which path are we on, now?

I realized my faults after I wrote them. It's a hard time in America right now and I don't want to add to it. I certainly didn't mean to trample over the emotions of another, but that is what I did. I learned something about the hypocrisy within myself, so the thread was not without lesson.

I'd take a collective stance on the matter. Accept that people's emotions come not from the person but from a planet that is one organism as a whole. One can not survive witout the other and the blunting of this realization results in feeling unheared in one's truth and denial of what is real.

Traveler, IMHO it was a wise move to truncate the thread. Some people got caught up badly in emotions of fear and anger and I am sure that they regret having been carried away by that.

I must say that I was quite positively impressed by some of the later contributions to the thread. I'd like to express my gratitude to those members who showed that it is possible to formulate reasonable viewpoints even from a standpoint of intense personal involvement.

The one thought that I like to add to the discussion is:

we all share so much more than sets us apart.

Yeah, sorry to bicker Trav.

I don't think I was particularly divisive, but I may have drove the convo in circles.
The energy in the air has just been crazy, and things felt a bit heavy.

Anyhow, we aren't going to figure this out by attrition warfare from our trenches. We all need to cultivate more empathy and understanding.

cynicism is ok, it is a sign of being jaded. it often stems from experience, and having some perspective.
just don't allow yourself to be so emotionally invested that it clouds your ability to think critically, and rationally.

Cynicism: a multi headed beast, one of them an ancient philosophy:

I would like to apologize for my lack of civility in the thread. It wasn't productive, and I believe that Praxis was 100% correct when he said that this kind of conduct and discourse can only serve to undermine those with more to lose than myself.

And so I've decided that this is not the time for me to be a part of any online community. I need to find a way to channel my rage into something more productive than railing online, and I think if I remain I'm likely to only indulge it further, unfortunately. I'll continue to read and log on to communicate privately with friends I've made here, and I'll stick around the arts section (though I make no promises not to spend the next four years painting and sculpting nothing but scenes of Donald Trump being buttfucked by Satan).

In any case, the Nexus has occupied a special place in my life for a number of years now. Thank you all for your contributions. Don't stop chasing that rabbit.

Be well my friend. I know for a fact you're a good man. You know where we are if you need us.
