I may have offended some people in a post that now has been deleted.
I can sincerely say that offending people has not been my intention, and if people have indeed been offended, then i apologise.

I want to say clearly that i do not think of mentally retarded people as morally inferior. And i hope that people have not interpreted my post that way. I rather meant to say that in my view, a general lack of empathy, is a very serious and inexcusable form of mental retardation.

The only thing i want to say, is that it cuts me deep in the heart when someone makes jokes at the expense of disabled people. And it cuts me even much, much deeper when such behaviour is being rewarded.
But it not just pains me, but also infuriates me. Maybe up to the point where i no longer think clearly, and i only want to hurt them back.

But yes, i can only feel a deep loathing for people who applaud such behaviour. I don't understand it, and i don't ever want to be the kind of person to understand it either.

I hope that you people understand this. But even if you don't. Even if i where the only person in the world to feel this way, i would not change my point of view.

I didn't see the original post, so I'm not entire sure exactly what went down, but I can say that I sincerely hope that if anyone on The Nexus were making jokes at the expense of the mentally ill or disabled, they would be immediately and permanently shown the door.

That said, I don't think we should be in the business of deciding what is or is not a form of metal or developmental disability. These are complex issues that are fraught with emotional complexities. In an anonymous text-based internet community, I think that can only lead to anger and frustration.

Didn't see it either, but you are becoming the king of making new threads to apologize for and/or whine about how you've been treated in past deleted threads.

I'm just spit balling here, but if you find yourself being misunderstood on a very regular basis, maybe you should take a bit more time to frame your thoughts before posting them.

OK point taken. But it realy are different cases.

I think that if anyone had the impression that i think of mentally ill or retarded people as morally inferior, i realy SHOULD apologize and stress that this was not my intention.

I suggested that supporting someone who makes jokes at the expense of disabled people, or who makes very mean and vicious remarks about war veterans, or certain ethnic groups, is not merely 'just another political opinion', something that should be respected like you have to respect other people's points of view, but a sign that someone is lacking very important mental ability's.

I used the words 'imbecile' and 'mental retardation', and suggested that it's only pity that keeps the public from calling these people from what they realy are.
I think i shouldn't have used those terms.

Though i do find, and i realy wouldn't care if if i would be shown the door for saying this, that people applauding such realy mean, vicious and degrading statements, are by doing so, mean and vicious creatures themselves.

I didn't see your original post, but ritual politically correct apologies offend me.

Luckily for you then, i didn't burn incense, sacrifice a goat, or summon the ghost of my dead dog, while typing those apologies.
If i had done any of that though...should i apologize then?

forgive me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you worry a little too much about what other forum members think of you.. I wouldn't worry about it. we're all pretty kind and forgiving people around here and we're brought together by a common interest... the point of a forum is to be able to share and discuss ideas about that interest - we're bound to disagree on things all the time! I think most members here are mature enough to realize that a person is more than their forum posts.. Smile

I'll repeat my previous advice(for what it's worth). Quit, virtue signaling. Say what you mean, mean what you say, leaving out the ad hominem attacks.

The Nexus, like all forums, has a core of responsive posters who share a "prevailing" sociocultural/political narrative. That said, tolerance of opposing views tends to be broadly embraced granted they're presented in a sensitive manner. Something, I admit, I fall short on at times.

When I encounter views/ideas I find objectionable, I strive to recall, that first and foremost, this is a unique forum frequented by individuals who are "psychedelically informed".

Dwell on that a bit whilst you're wafting upon the billows of your Entheogen of choice. For me at least, this can engender deep empathy/compassion for our(humanity) wholly absurd predicament>>>life ensconced in a naked ape morph.

dragonrider, you're obviously a thoughtful fellow. Sustained, open dialogue, is a bit of a game, the most salient "rule" being, finesse.

Peace
