I'm curious if any folks here have much first hand experience using psychedelics to accelerate/supplement learning? Learning a foreign language, for example, or programming, math, architecture, etc...

For those that have, what's been your experience? Any particular substances better suited for the job than others? Dosage?

I personally find LSD useful for studying in general, and I feel like it's been particularly helpful in understanding chemistry.

Thoughts from everyone else? I'm also interested in any research re: psychedelics and speed learning, pattern recognition, memorization, etc... if anyone has juicy links

Have you come across 2C-D? Definitely helps you learn a lot in a short time.

What kind of dose do you find is most effective for yourself?

I find low doses of cannabis sativa to greatly enhance my ability and willingness to learn, connect dots, improve creativity, etc. Especially if one takes serious interest in a specific activity/subject. Ime, threshold/micro doses of mushrooms takes on similar effects, too. Same can be said for 4-Acetoxy-DMT, as well. I feel many folks can agree to these experiences, anyways. Just gotta weigh the correct dose! Also, mixing similar substances together can be quite capable of sparking that inner inspiration. Wink

Isn't this somewhat anecdotal? What is your experience? Part of the reason why I ask is because I have some of this substance tucked away awaiting further analysis. Smile

As just mentioned, pot massively increases both my willingness to learn and the length of time I can study for, really helps keep the boredom at bay during excruciatingly long and boring study days. I stick to strong hash, skunk is a little too much for revision.

For studying microdosing seems to be the most efficient for me, typically anywhere from 15ug-25ug; but I've found higher doses are great for understanding key concepts, though trying to actively study or practice at this range is less practical.

I haven't used it myself but I've heard similar claims. You have experience with it?

There's some good researching showing LSD enhancing associative learning in rabbits, and psilocybin enhancing learning in rats.

This is a pretty good review.

There was a reddit post about a guy who took a lot of LSD and claimed it helped him learn German.

Thanks for the link! I don't have time at the moment but I'll read through it over the next few days as I'm able. At a glance it looks like just was I was looking for. I'm familiar with the reddit thread about german. All anecdotal of course, but nonetheless an interesting read. IIRC he was taking fairly substantial doses, no?

I've had mixed results trying to supplement learning with cannabis. If I'm particularly interested in the subject it can motivate me and help me to visualize/think about problems in new ways, but I also find that that after smoking so much it creates a mental-fog that hinders my ability to learn and remember effectively, more than anything. Though I s'pose I could always smoke less if I really wanted to. Pleased

I have first hand experience with improved Spanish speaking (faster vocabulary recall, better flow) on extracted Peruvian Torch.

Yes, I have some tucked away also but never tried it Big grin There seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence that it increase learning ability but I don't have personal experience.

Indeed. I've read few accounts of 2C-D actually having any acute or long term beneficial effect on accelerated learning. Although that certainly does not change its status as a unique psychedelic/entheogenic phenethylamine. I think the reason behind its supposed nootropic qualities is that 2C-D is one of the few substances coin termed by Shulgin as "pharmacological tofu." Principally being less potent than other similar drugs but helpful in promoting the experience of other substances and phenethylamines.

Interesting nonetheless. I'll report here if any positive or negative activity is observed upon desire for utilization. Thumbs up

In general, I was under the impression that cannabis was generally not great for learning/memory.

As a general statement I think that's probably true for most people, but I know a handful of people who swear that cannabis improves their academic performance. My guess would be that it's not well-suited for subjects that involve a lot of memorization, since we know cannabis use impairs memory--but I can see the high being useful for analyzing/integrating new concepts in novel ways that a sober mind might not think of.

I'm sure this certainly isn't the case for most people, but I wouldn't be surprised if it genuinely helps some.

What dosage do you find is effective for this? I've been curious about mescaline for this purpose.

...This is just my personal experience, but I've never felt like cannabis made me more analytical, or creative. It changes my thought patterns, and at the time it can feel like a massive insight that I'm having, but every single attempt I've ever made to communicate these insights has always, in the light of day, shown them to be either total nonsense, or something really obvious that only seemed profound.

Similarly, when I'm playing music (any other handpan players, btw?), I might feel like I'm rocking out and making really creative new things, but when I record and listen, they usually sound the same as my sober playing...

Idem dito
Is why I call it not a good master for me. It does succeed in stealing my general energy level quite effectively Laughing

For learning, I've heard Mucuna Pruriens could do something, the L-Dopa.
