For two weekends in a row, a friend and have tried to brew rue tea, with no effect. The first time, 4 grams of ground seeds were boiled for 30 minutes twice , strained and drunk. Second try, we used 8 grams (to split between us), and added lemon juice to the boils, again, nothing.

I know they were rue seeds and the quality from this source had been fine in the past.

Has anyone else experienced this, and how could it happen if not due to skeeviness on the part of the vendor?

Did you do a test with a blacklight? Even very dilute rue tea should glow blue-green in long-wave uv light. Another suggestion is to do an extraction like the Tao of Rue on a measured amount of seeds and to record the yield of purified alkaloids.

Weird.
Making an extract (+ manske) can serve as an excellent judge.

Edit: pitubo beat my timing Pleased
The very slightest trace will make the gloww.

Yeah, it is really weird. Just bought a black light this morning, so next time.

It was really disappointing though, both of us had to work up some nerve to even take it. And it was so nasty tasting; but apparently was just an exercise in self abuse...

How did the vendor respond? Did they offer to replace the product?

(What effect are you expecting from rue tea? Is it not potentiating the DMT or are you failing to recover alks?)

Bump. Anything become of this? And what of a1pha's questions?

We were trying to feel our way into harmala space, being both virgins in the experience. We were not trying to potentiate, although if it worked, the idea to smoalk was on the table (along with the GVG). Alas, no effects whatsoever and we declined spice as well.

I only saw the seeds prior to and after grinding and thought perhaps my friend used the wrong thing, but that's really kind of absurd and he swears he used the rue.

That friend is out of town, but we intend to pick up with this experiment, and a couple others, when they return!

I have not bothered to talk to the vendor, it's brick and mortar. I guess I could email them, otherwise I really only have access to whoever is behind the counter and more often than not they are both very cagey about the psychoactive botanicals and rather uneducated on them, unless it's kratom. I probably should say something, they would most likely want to know if they have a low quality stock. They had been a good supplier in the past, I had gotten good cannabis synergy and mild smoalked spice potentiation from smoking a previous seed batch or rue and know it was good.

I hope I didn't just break the rules re: VD.

Laughing ....perhaps they've accidentally sent garden rue seed....? Imagine two jars: one labeled 'Rue' and another labeled 'Syrian Rue'......

lol ...very similar names, rue & rue, they even look similar, a lot of medieval medics (monks) who studied Ibn Sina (Avicenna) got the two mixed up...specially when they was tired.....or sleepy...

I think so. We thought about performing various test procedures- from dropping them in water and observing under UV to a quick basification to see if any precip forms. I'm guessing that's why you ask? Still, I must wait to do this, as the seeds are not at my location.

Dropping in water under UV would be simple, quick and effective.

Ruta graveolens and Peganum harmala seeds really do look rather similar!

This was the response from vendor:
Quote:
[I am sorry, I will not be able to discus anything about the above, as we sell our products as the species. If you are unhappy with the product you can bring it back for a full refund. I think its the same supplier that we have had for years, but I will have to check in to that when I am in the office on monday. Hope your day is great!

Italics mine, I'm not sure what that even means? If it's labeled one thing but that label is wrong....
