I was meditating and thought of a particular verse in Genesis
Quote:
3:7 As soon as they had eaten it, they were given understanding and realised they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and covered themselves.

Suddenly it clicked with me, there is no literal fruit, it is consciousness. We evolved, and became self aware to such a degree that we realised we were naked. The planet was the garden of Eden, a perfect place of balance till we reached a point where we were no longer apes. And we have manipulated and destroyed the garden to better our own lives ever since at an alarming rate. The more 'aware/intelligent' we become the easier life gets e.g medicine, transport, air conditioning; but it benefits the elite the most, while the poor suffer. I wonder who is smarter, humans or the deer?

Since this epiphany it has changed my whole world view, I no longer place human life above any other, as we were all equals once living in union. There is no return to Eden, I understand that, 'we' make it so, that is the problem of evil, it is that simple we evolved. I can't ever understand God, not in this life, because that is above me but I thought to myself God knew all of this, yet allowed it to be. I think how much it would sadden God to see us destroying Eden every day, killing animals, cutting down forests, raping and killing each other and watching, like a parent watching their child go astray.

Just some thoughts, it seems quite evident to me this is the real story of the 'fall', the story of our species. Since regular use of psychedelics verse in the bible make more sense to me, I read it with a clearer mind, not imposing my own bias/upbringing on it and allow the words to just be. For example I wear a crucifix around my neck, so I thought, 'why do I do this? It is because I am a Christian. What does that mean? Christ, I am a follower of Christ.' And it seems self evident but few 'Christians' follow Christ. Instead they follow themselves, or the church.

“Among other things, you'll find that you're not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You're by no means alone on that score, you'll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them—if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry.” J.D. Salinger.
