I went into a smoke shop the other day to purchase a body cleansing (detox) drink. The goal being that I drink it an hour or two before a urinalysis and do not come up positive for THC. While I was talking to the clerk about it she told me that I needed to drink a specific type of water because it had a Ph level of 9.5. She claimed that tap water would not be effective enough.

Now I have been trying to find some piece of information to support this claim but I simply can not. I have a few points that I believe prove that she is wrong but I am not 100% sure these are valid and would love your guys input regardless.

First, does your body not naturally regulate your Ph? I would think that regardless of the Ph of a liquid you consume it would not effect your body in any noticeable way.

Second, why would having more basic water change anything? I have always considered the idea of flooding your system to simply be pushing as much liquid through as possible so as to pull out all the metabolites.

Lastly, assuming it did effect my urine, how would this help me pass the test?

Just to clear a few things up. I am only doing this because I was not aware of the test. I have since stopped using anything containing THC and will not be for a good amount of time. [EDIT] They do not sell this basic water at the shop so it was not a money making tactic.

I'm not personally aware of anything that works other than drinking a lot of water for dilution and taking vitamin b complex to turn the color which should be clear from the amount of water consumed back to yellow.

That won't work if the check for creatine, but most toxicology labs don't as the toxicology business is mostly a cash cow anyway.

Thanks for the input! Big grin

I have been hydrating a lot in conjunction with the detox drink. All should be good and a appreciate the feedback. I am, however, not concerned with passing the test one way or the other on this thread. Simply curious about the claim that was made at the store.

Thanks again for sharing, I will be taking a B vitamin shortly. Thumbs up
