Hey there fellow board denizens. Tomorrow i will most likely be having my second Ayahuasca trip. One week ago (friday 25) i snorted about 1 gr. of cocaine. The day after that i emailed the shaman who is going to be hosting tomorrow's ceremony telling him what i had done because i was worried that maybe i fucked it up. He said 'drink water, eat fruits and veggies for a week' and that's what i did. I've been eating really light and drinking water. No alcohol, no fats, no dairy, no shit. No weed or tobacco either. I wet vegan for crying out loud. Most boring week ever.
But now i'm having second thoughts. I've been reading some articles online and frankly i'm a little bit scared. Some say that combining coke and Ayahuasca could be deadly. This post says 'no coke within 33 days of Ayahuasca intake'. I have not taken any more coke since last friday and the shaman says it's ok, but still.

I know that 'when in doubt, do without' but what do you think/know about this? Am i safe?

Personally, I wouldn't dare mixing something like that. Especially a week apart. I would think a coco leaf would be harmless. I don't know about the cocaine you took but who knows how it has affected your chemical balance in your brain.

I would listen to the month thing, or make sure it's out of your system entirely at the least. Which I think is anywhere from 3-14 days. Listen to the shaman, cleanse, cleanse, and right...cleanse.

Your fine. A week is definatly enough time for it to be out of your system. The stuff you read about cocaine and ayahuasca together being deadly is referring to the 2 used together at the same time. Even 1 day apart should be enough for you to not have to worry. Cocaine does not go for a super long time. Probly a good thing to avoid though either way. A gram of cocaine is a lot of cocaine for one day..not that i really know much about cocaine other than thats alot.

That's my opinion. Hopefully corpus can chime in here but I can't imagine the stuff lingering in your body for more than a few days. I don't see any reason why using ayahuasca a week after would cause complication.

A week should be ample time to clear the cocaine from ones system PROVIDED that:

1.what youve taken is cocaine without certain piperazine cuts, or concomitant alcohol use

2.you used it as a one-off thing, rather than part of more frequent potentially problematic use which alters the retention of metabolites

3.your liver works normally

4.you have a normal working level of cholinesterase enzymes

Cocaines half life, when used as a one-off is about 40-90 minutes, depending on ROA; the metabolites are more complicated and are affected by patterns of use and the presence of other compounds which can affect their metabolism/elimination. This latter fact explains in part why sudden death a good few hours after cocaine use is sometimes seen.

Kwik peek in the Drugbank tells me that coke has a halflife of 1h.

Therefore the coke should be long out your system, since 168h passed. But this isn't a waiver, just a piece of information.

It surely was not pure. Don't know what it was cut with and regarding alcohol, well i drank alcohol before taking it and a little while we were doing coke. I was not drunk, just normal alcohol dinner party use.

That's the only thing that makes me wonder. The rest is fine. It was definitely a one night stand. I'm not a junkie or a coke addict. My liver works fine and i guess i have a normal working level of cholinesterase enzymes.

Should i be worried about alcohol use?

if you took it a week ago-coke or alcohol it should be out of your system and you should be fine. Not saying they didnt do you any damage and this journey might not b a little rough, but the beauty of aya is it heals the damage and helps bring you back into balance. Its more relevant what you decide to take from now forward after the aya

A small amount of Coca leaves chewed immediately prior to ingesting the brew has never done me any harm and I am in my mid 60s. This has always given me a gentle boost to the Ceremony.

thats coca leaf which can be a plant ally and is often used as an additive in brews, street coke is very different, ahh "DMT + Cocaine" thread flashback

yes, don't worry.
I've done cocaine ~72 hours before my first trip, and I was a little bit heavy user (100-500mg daily for months).
also drank Agwa de bolivia liquor (it has decocanized coca leaves) just before the trip but even besides of these, the DMT trip was a very very good experience in my life (if not the best...). came back with a teardrop in my eyes because of the happyness i've experienced during the breakthru.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone though, everyone's body is different. my set&setting was very peaceful, beautiful. I think that matters the most. It's just my experience.

I don't think you risk something on the physical level, but it's a bit of a shame to do an aya ceremony and jump in party full of booze and coke right after ...
