Not a member of any -ism -
& totally beyond the left/right paradigm,
but generally it seems that the left has seriously lost its mind and integrity, morphing into some weird PC self-effacing masochism,
while a certain growing sector of the right (the 'new right' or 'alt right' ) is starting to develop brains at least as big as its balls...

Anarchism appeals to the soul, but the mind scoffs.
Socialism appeals to the mind, but the soul retches.
I think ultimately tho it doesn't really matter the form of government, it's all about the people in power, and what they are doing with that power. Unfortunately it seems that regardless of the institution, more often than not it's a sociopath in the Captain's chair.

I definitely support everybody being free to think and say whatever the fuck they want, utterly without heed to conventional wisdom. I personally don't give the most infinitesimal fuck about what other people think about me, and if my perspectives make someone feel uncomfortable, all the better. The world is an uncomfortable place, let's stop pretending otherwise.

Some opinions that may be scandalous, even horrifying among this crowd: Twisted Evil
-I support national borders & the 2nd amendment.
-I do not believe in the viability of multicultural society, and do not believe all cultures are of equal value.
-I don't believe in "global warming", and think pollution is a much bigger problem than anthropogenic climate change.
-I concur with Slavoj Zizek when he says that we need "*more* alienation and violence".
-Rapists & pedophiles should be castrated or executed.
-Totally opposed to Islam.
-Love is not all there is,
-Love is not all you need,
-and God Is Not Love.

This thread is so depressing. Between the idealistic anarchist oversimplifying complex issues and people like Anne who support ultra conservative racist/xenophobic campaigns, I don't know who's worse. I'm all for other perspectives, when they're well informed by facts and not idealism or prejudice and bigotry. It would seem this place is full of surprises more and more, and increasingly of the bad sort. I give the Nexus a fresh chance everyday to not get me depressed, but more and more it seems like an exercise in self-punishment. Maybe that's just a result of many drug users adopting libertarian views over time to justify breaking the law. I've certainly had to change my views over the years, and I hope I continue to do so. But never will it change in the direction of hate or self-importance, which I feel define the above positions at their core.

I feel like I could write a lot in reply regarding your views (which you are entitled to have), but want to touch on a few key issues. I myself was against muslim immigration for quite some time, I have realised though that it only perpetuates more negativity into the world. The reason why you believe what you do is the same as why IS believe what they do, it is through hate, violence and pain that they have become bitter and twisted. How is more violence and hatred the answer?

If everyone loved, loved the planet, each other we would live in eden, I know this is impossible in practice but theoretically it works, isn't love/positivity the answer then?
“Among other things, you'll find that you're not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You're by no means alone on that score, you'll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them—if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry.” J.D. Salinger.

WARNING: Long-winded rant approaching

Very happy Big grin These posts are making my day less gray! Personally, I try to remove myself from political debate and involvement as much as humanly possible; I have much much more worthwhile projects to squander my precious time on than to think and debate with others about "political" systems and ideology. Society is shaped by the collective consciousness of a population capable of supporting one another through individual specialization and trade. Each man applies his living power toward mastering certain tasks or skills and, upon achieving significant mastery, trades the fruits of his labors with others who may have specialized in other trades/skills. Society, and the rancid ruby red river of mass sexual repression which fuels it, is a sickening, unsustainable ticking time bomb ready to explode on any millisecond's notice. Controlling these drives of its citizens, as well as maintaining a stable system capable of controlling the animalian side of the human condition, requires an authoritarian structure whose power rests in the muzzle of the barrel of a loaded gun pointed straight at the populace which sustains it. We, the people, through the fruits of our labors, keep the machine well lubricated and well-funded with the cream of the crops of our lives.

Can't you see it? Can't you feel the pressure building within your chest, rising high like a saturn 5 rocket shooting straight up through the stratosphere at a speed of mach-knows-what? Can't you feel your blood boiling over? Can't you feel the dry dullness of old age set in? Can't you feel the blood, sweat, guts, tears and brains being drained each and every day by our fellow peers, just as we drain on them? Blood for blood is honest. This exchange of goods is natural. It is natural for man to trade with his neighbors so as to survive. But, is it natural for men with great big guns and innumerable underground football-field sized bunkers overflowing with enough Weapons of Mass Destruction to completely erase the end product of some 4-odd billion years of Natural Selection, of God-given progress and the proliferation, persistence, and adaptation of life to the wild, wicked wacky and weird world around and within it? Why? Oh yeah. Because one "leader" didn't like some other "leaders" so, wanting to show that this "leader" was better than all the rest, to "flex his muscles," he/she figured that it was perfectly fine to demolish the planet with the dark side of man's magical mind.

Tragedy. Complete and utter tragedy. Doom and death and disaster and decay is what awaits all who settle safely into these looters' power plays and fiddle-dee-fiddle-dumb "Political Philosophies". We only have so much time to spend in this world and yet we, the people, choose to drive white hot nine inch nails through our eyes each and every day in order to make us blissfully oblivious to this nightmare come true which we like to call "GOVERNMENT".

I, too, must hop on the bandwagon and state that the Government that governs best is the government that governs least. These swine bastards who call themselves "politicians," who make promises they know they can't keep to an audience which knows that they're lying right down to their faces, but still cheer them on and give them their votes anyways. Just like the Sirens who lure innocent young men to their deaths with their sweet songs of longing and hope, so too do our "leaders" suppress and oppress the true nature of themselves and the "people" whom they are supposed to "lead." It doesn't matter which siren you cast your ballot for; they are soulless meat puppets on the media's sensational stage, dancing and promising and kissing and hand shaking and singing and pleasing the people of the land so as to get their support. Pulling the strings of these puppets are none other than a conglomerate of faceless donors, Super PACs, lobbyists, and similar such shadow entities who use the power of the almighty dollar to take charge of the Government via these inert idiots who dare to call themselves free-thinking politicians.

I've long since bid a fond farewell to my television set years ago. I just couldn't take the brain-drain any longer, and had to get outside and live in the present, not in fear. Needless to say, I've found that extensive periods of time spent alone in the woods tending my satellite gardens or at home tending to my main garden are paradise. Self-sufficiency, living off the land in a small agrarian community (e.g. Kibbutz-like), far removed from the messy and miserable masses of mankind, free of the fumes and carcinogenic odors and excessive fear-conditioning coupled with the never-ending repression and suppression of animalian pleasure drives which composes mainstream western society.

My politics is this: FREE YOURSELF. I Don't bother reading up on any and all political mumbo-jumbo. I try to spend my short stay on Earth doing what I love--reading studies and fiction, conducting new and novel cutting-edge research at the forefront of neuropsychopharmacology and neuropsychiatry, spend as much time as I can alone in the cosmic womb of Mother Nature, meditating, possibly attracting a mate or three, and living life as I want it to be lived, free from the gun-toting, fear-mongering self-destructive ways of Big Brother. I think that mankind should splinter out and away from these crime-ridden hell-holes which we now begrudgingly denote as a "civilized society," a "beacon of prosperity and wealth before the world." Bull... complete bull.... It is time to ignight a new age neolithic revolution. It is time for men and wombmen to once again assemble into small, tight-knit agrarian societies which rely on trade and survival via barter and not by the almighty dollar. All humans are born free and are entitled to free themselves from the shackles of society and its putrid 'politics' whenever they so choose to do so. We all have the potential to wake up to the truth drizzling down like acid rain and shooting up into their consciousness like a sulfide-spewing smokestack. This is only a choice, however. Some men are content with the hell they blindly submit to day in and day out. Spread out far and few between, us others won't assume the position and willingly allow our Big Brother to sodomize us six ways from Sunday; we see their shtick for what it really is and aren't afraid to stop wasting our time on such trivial matters. Life is precious. The time we have to spend in this universe as human beings is the only truly limited resource, as with every second of every passing day we get closer to the grave, frustrated and confused and alone and abused by the ills of the political system and the sickening society which it misgoverns. Politicians are attention-whores with nothing better to do than to distract you from what is REALLY important to you in life. Life should be lived for and by one's own self and never for anyone else. It is precious. It is perfect. This life is yours and only yours to live as you want it to be lived, so why not make the most of it before you breathe your last breath and return your exhausted, broken, beaten, battered, tattered, torn and time-worn body back to the Earth from whence it came?? The Public Good be Damned, I will have no part of it!
'"ALAS,"said the mouse, "the world is growing smaller every day. At the

stands the trap that I must run into." "You only need to change your direction," said

Refreshing comments.

"Xenophobic/racist", AH?? Please!

Perfectly useful terms(sentiments) co-opted by life long "safe space" dwellers and used as increasingly meaningless political cudgels.

Query the gals of Cologne re: "xenophobia", "safe space" or "in-group bias". I'd wager their sensibilities are evolving.

Wisdom(scientific/mystical) springs whence keen intellect and real life experience commingle.

Seems, AH has earned that feather.

So you think that opposition to Muslim immigration perpetuates more negativity than the mass Taharrush sexual assaults, and other social mayhem that is perpetrated by Muslim migrants? More negativity than the attempts to cover up these widespread attacks, and blame the victims?
Are you aware of the Rotherham child sexual exploitation scandal, where some 1400 British schoolgirls as young as 12 were raped, tortured, and pimped by a gang of Pakistanis over the years 1997-2014, and all this was actively covered up by police for fear of appearing 'racist' if they arrested the Pakistanis... Instead they arrested parents for reporting the rape of their children.
But please, tell me how racist Europeans are getting themselves all worked up over nothing.

It is the cover-ups and the political correctness, the clamp-down on cognitive liberty, that foments the most ugly mob mentalities. Because more and more people can see that the Emperor wears no clothes, and if the so-called "extreme right wing" are the only people willing to say so, then they will get the popular support, simple as that.

Unlike most liberals, I've actually read the Quran, and it's a nightmare.

Your vision of Eden does not work practically or theoretically. It ignores the presence of psychopathic evil on this planet, which does not have the capacity for Love. All the Love in the world will not make a difference.

Humanity is naturally compassionate and empathetic, it is our greatest strength and also our greatest weakness because it is so easily exploited by those who have no use for compassion and empathy, except as a means of manipulation. They WANT us to be in a state of perpetual Love, because then you can't fight back. "Love your enemy", what a crock of shit.

HATE IS NECESSARY TO PROTECT LOVE, BECAUSE LOVE CANNOT PROTECT ITSELF.

"The teaching of Love has destroyed Love." -Osho

Yes I do think there needs to be more hate. More hate towards rape, child abuse, REAL racism and oppression of indigenous peoples, corporate domination, destruction of the environment, mind control, Zionism, machinations of the NWO, and theocratic institutions such as Islam (which makes the 19th c. European colonialists look like multi-culti liberal Swedes in comparison).

If more people felt white-hot rage about these things, there would be less complacency and more action. We have to know who we are and what we stand for.

If the Arabs can murder women for being raped, surely we can murder men for raping.
It's not about race, it's about cultural values and what it takes to defend them.
Not to impose our values on others, but just to keep what has cost generations of struggle to create.

It's time to warrior-up, people. The good things in life need to be defended against those who would exploit and destroy them. Life is struggle, not a fucking tea party.

"Politcal correctness is the language of those who are terrified about what would happen if they stopped lying." -Pierre Menant

Eh, you can claim you're transcendentally beyond any -ism, but this seems to fit pretty neatly into the box of 21st century libertarianism. Float around sites like Reason Magazine and you'll fit right in.

Question for both you and Psybin (who's used the term PC as well in other threads):

Can you describe to me what it is you want to be able to do that the 'PC-police' are stopping you from doing WITHOUT using the words PC or 'political correctness?' Don't just say "oh, the world is too PC," but rather "the world is not letting me do/say/think X, Y, and Z."

I'm curious as to what it is that you object to. In general, I see the thrust of the "PC" movement to be a good thing, and basically a political incarnation of empathy. It is true that, if you occupy a place of privilege, equality might feel like oppression, but in general, if our PC culture means that fewer trans people are going to get murdered, or that the police will stop shooting black children, I call that a net positive. If we loose a few comedians, well, that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Blessings

Good question, Nathaniel.

I wouldn't call myself a libertarian, or transcendent. I honestly do not know what the best path is. Everybody has their little piece of the puzzle.
I do think that it's more about the people than the governance system. People make good government, government does not make good people.
Admittedly my rhetoric is designed to trigger but at least it gets some real discussion going.

The problem with the PC thing is that you're not allowed to criticize. You can love, but you can't hate. So this represses the very real incompatibilities between people, and they feel compelled to embrace something they'd rather not, which only increases the resentment and rancor until it overflows in ugly ways.

One example is 'Islamophobia' - in today's liberalism, any critique of Islam is racist and fascist, yet Islamic culture is totally incongruent with the values of feminism, gay rights, individualism, etc that liberalism espouses. There is a blind refusal to even consider this possibility.

And I know about the Sufis, Al-Khidr, psychedelic Islamic art, Iranian literary history, Harmal, magic carpets, people like Wahid Azal, etc - I grok that there is diversity and mystical traditions.
And it is these traditions which are most at risk if real critical analysis of Islam is prohibited.

You know what, I'm gay! And I think that mainstream gay culture is totally degenerate and devoid of value. It truly disgusts me. But if I say that, it makes me a... homophobe?

I support diverse gender identities (being gender fluid myself), but am generally opposed to surgical reassignment (people should learn to love the bodies they were born with), and think Caitlyn Jenner is an abomination. Does that make me transphobic? Or just opinionated?

I'm not even going to touch on the race thing because that's a huge tangled issue that I don't have the time to go into. Let me just say that while the interface between genetics and culture should not be ignored, I celebrate the good in all races, and treat everyone as an individual regardless of race.

(BTW since it's Martin Luther King day, let me encourage everyone to read "Indaba, My Children" by Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa, it is truly epic and among the greatest masterpieces of literature ever written. You will never think about Africa the same way.)

Maybe I'll end with a little parable that nicely illustrates an aspect of today's political dynamics. This was a real protest that happened in Sweden. I'll try to find the link if anyone's interested.

A left-wing liberal group teamed up with a right-wing conservative group to protest homophobia and oppression of women in the Muslim community. They marched in a Muslim neighborhood, were they were met with an anti-racist counter-protest group. The Muslims came out and protested everybody who wasn't Muslim. After the denouement, the anti-racists were mugged by a group of migrants.

It's mass confusion, and admitting it is the first step to dealing with it!

(I hope I at least partially answered your question.)

@Nathaniel.Dread, I don't really even know that PC is a thing outside of extremely liberal circles like college Marxist clubs and Portland. Laughing I may have mentioned it in the past, but I've since evolved in my opinions. I defend capitalism, but not in the libertarian sense. I'm really more into regulated capitalism and social democracy.

You're generalizing a whole religion - that's the problem. There are equally violent things in the Bible, yet people manage to interpret it in peaceful ways all over the globe, and in some not so peaceful ways as well. The same is true of Islam. Just look at places like Turkey or Malaysia. In addition, much of the truly hateful rhetoric employed by groups like IS and Al-Qaeda isn't even in the Quran.

Tell me this: why is it that when IS commit a hateful act or kill, Islam is attacked; yet when the KKK commit hateful acts, no one criticizes Christianity?

You obviously haven't read the Quran. It's filled with murderous, sadistic exhortations to destroy the unbelievers. There is an explicit emphasis on more-than-necessary retribution. The definition of 'peace' in Islam (def="Submission" ), is when the whole world is Muslim ("one who submits" ). It is perhaps even more militant than the Old Testament.
Islam is just a particularly virulent strain of the same old Abrahamic plague.

But I'm not going to pollute this thread with scores of damning quotes from the Quran. You can do your own homework.

And to hold up Turkey (among the primary supporters of ISIL) and Malaysia as examples of tolerance and peaceful coexistence is absolutely grotesque.

Christianity has been criticized to death for at least two centuries now, and nobody starts screaming "Christianophobe!" when it is. Consider stepping outside your bubble now and then.

Where are you getting your information from, because that's simply false.

Quote:
The Turkey–ISIL conflict was a series of attacks and clashes between Turkey and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, ISIS, Isis).

ISIL is suspected of involvement in or responsibility for the terrorist attacks on Turkish soil in May 2013 in Reyhanlı and March 2014 on Turkish police, the 5 June 2015 Diyarbakır rally bombing and most notably the 20 July 2015 Suruç bombing killing 32 young activists.

The Turkish government until July 2015 only attacked ISIL once militarily, in January 2014. In September 2014, Turkey joined a US-led coalition ‘to fight ISIL’.

On 23 July 2015, Turkey allowed the United States Air Force to use İncirlik and Diyarbakır air bases in southern Turkey for their airstrikes on ISIL. Also on 23 July, after an alleged ISIL attack on a Turkish border outpost in Kilis Province killing one Turkish soldier, the Turkish army with tanks shelled ISIL militants in Syria killing one militant and destroying several ISIL vehicles.

On 24 July 2015, an anonymous report appeared on a Turkish newspaper/website stating that the United States had agreed with Turkey on a ‘partial no-fly zone’ in northern Syria. While no official statement about the zone has been released, commentators still speculate about the real motives and objectives of Turkey and the US with the supposed ‘buffer zone’ or ‘ISIL-free zone’. On 24 and 25 July, Turkey carried out three waves of airstrikes on ISIL in Syria allegedly hitting a number of ISIL targets and killing 35 ISIL militants.

I don't want to indulge your intellectual laziness, but here's a list of ISIS-Turkey links compiled by Columbia University's Institute for Human Rights (and here presented on the liberal PC bastion Huffington Post!):

Research Paper: ISIS-Turkey List

Nevermind Erdogan's slaughter of the Kurds, some of the only sane people left in the Middle East.

His official election slogan was "Shop and Pray". What a sick joke.

You have brought up a lot of events which show migrant muslim attacks on white Europeans, it is obvious you are very smart, I could do the same and we'd go back and forth all day. Yes, oppression/violence against women is a huge problem in Muslim countries, it is too in India, I am not denying anything. I am a realist, I say the answer is to love, I also know people must be punished for their actions. How does me trying to be a nice person mean I won't stop a sexual assault?

I am assuming you are against Muslim immigration right? Lets back this up to 9/11, I mean really Osama Bin Laden was justified in attacking America, it was retaliation for a trade embargo on Iraq since the first Gulf war and continued until the Coalition invaded again, resulting in thousands of unnecessary civilian deaths. Unfortunately the west did not see this as a provoked attacked and we are now in the mess we are in today, mass Muslim migration is a result of our actions, or the governments, which you claim are 'good' BTW.

So now we are here with a problem which we should of had the foresight to see coming. And your solution to this is more violence and hate? I really cannot see the logic in that, sorry most of these people are already here, living next door to us and you suggest that we make them feel more alienated, isn't that kinda what has caused a lot of this already?

I do not agree with rape one bit, but to take another's life what gives you the right? I believe someone who rapes another has ruined that life and should never see free live again but to kill them is harsh my friend, there are wrongful convictions all the time and we would then be guilty of taking an innocent persons life...

BTW, I never said I was 'PC', not really sure what it means, just think its a term people who live in a bubble like to claim they are.

Just a little side note your views are striking similar to a couple of fascist/white supremacist friends I have, I just find it kinda ironic that you are gay and these people generally despise you and your lifestyle..

And no, saying you hate gay culture does not make you homophobic, hating gay people does. Just like disliking parts of Muslim culture doesn't make you a racist, what you have been writing here does though.

Very interesting discussion BTW. Smile

Salinger.
