On an episode of "life with lisa ling" broadcast recently on CNN Lisa did a report on EDM, which I don't have an issue with, but when it came to the drug discussions I thought this was grossly misinforming. They preached the dangers of "molly", which would be fine, but it's not MDMA harming the majority of these festival goers, in the majority of cases it was a research chemical of some sort such as "mephadrone" or "MDPV" or some cathinone compound SOLD AS MDMA that caused harm to these festival goes, actual MDMA was not even involved in most of these cases mentioned when describing the dangers of MDMA.

MDMA is actually pretty safe, dangerous compounds like 4-methylthioamphetamine or research chemicals are hurting people and MDMA is being identified as the cause, and this is what bothered me.

I really don't care about EDM, but I am a strong advocate for psychedelic compounds, and I feel the blanket term "Molly" is being used to make MDMA appear as a dangerous compound with no value otherwise, people are not afraid of 4-methylthioamphetamine, or cathinones, or other compounds with similar receptor agonism but little to no history of Hunan use, they are afraid of MDMA.

The "bunk police" must even resort to smuggling in testing kits, because promoters feel they can get blamed for "condoning drug use" if they allow these precautions because of some bill passed by Joe Biden regarding MDMA and festivals...that's another story though.

I don't care about underground cultures being made into the mainstream, but it does bother me when fairly innocent compounds are dragged into the mainstream with these cultures...

So you watched it I suppose?

Under what light did they paint the drug testing? was it viewed positively or negatively?

I think it is a very positive view of the BP. Adam gets to say his perspective. Well worth a watch.

Bunk Police Infiltrate EDM

And from, I Was a '90s Rave Queen

"Over the years, I had tried sensational Ecstasy, but I'd also had really bad product that made me paranoid and very depressed -- this likely was a doctored version of what I thought was pure E, a regular occurrence that my seasoned, responsible friends neglected to tell me about.

When I think back on how haphazardly we popped what we thought were Ecstasy tablets, I cannot help but feel a little embarrassed. Especially now, after reporting on the deaths that have occurred at electronic music events, I shudder at the thought of my negligence."

Yes I watched this one.

I felt they misrepresented MDMA, but as far as the test kit smugglers I think they put a positive spin on it, emphasising that the promoters are "afraid" to be seen as condoning drug use due to a law regarding clubs, festivals and MDMA put forward by Joe Biden, and therefore can't allow test kits. They let the test kit smugglers speak their peice, overall I think they did ok on that part.

The issue I had was more with the show using "Molly" as a blanket term for anything SOLD AS MDMA, then attributing dangers of other compounds to MDMA as a result....
