I have some 5-MeO-DMT but I'm a bit unsure if it's the freebase or the 5-MeO-DMT:HCl salt.

It's very fine powder and slightly beige color. I've looked at Erowid and it's showing a white, granular substance, possibly small crystals, which mine definitely isn't.

Would anyone know what the freebase version is supposed to look like?

Assuming it's the salt I presume the easiest way to get the freebase is basification with sodium carbonate, filter and dry?

I see wiki here also says off-white crystals. Doesn't rule out powder, I guess, depending on how it was produced Confused

Haven't tried yet (I haven't got very much so don't want to risk too much!).

Does water soluble mean salt and water insoluble mean freebase then?

To my knowledge, yes. Pretty sure it would be fumarate, not HCl. I recall a thread here recently that said either n,n or 5 meo DMT as HCl is an oil. Fumarates are solid.

The salt I had access to was very very fine and could have been described as " wet" since it clumped together.

I've gone for it and stirred some of my precious powder into warm water and it's dissolved!

OK, so some kind of salt then Wink

Will precipitate out the freebase tomorrow with NaCO3 and take it from there.

One of the teks I looked at earlier said the freebase was quick to oxidize. Can anyone verify that?

I have no exp with salting or basing salts, but I do know that n,n DMT can oxidize easily, that's why some folks salt it out for long term storage. I also recall that it's still active, just not as potent by weight.

Youre a lucky guy to have that! You know what I'd do with it, lol. Wink

Look forward to hearing how it goes. For me, 5meoDMT was the most transformative experience of my life, catalyzing a journey of growth and positive change. It killed me, and I couldn't be more grateful. Gratefully dead?

Yes - quick to oxidize.
