"Banshee chapter" is the name of a film that incorporates MKULTRA, and a DMT compound called "DMT-19"

I have not seen it yet, but the way it was described to me was that it makes DMT look like a horrifying compound used to drive folks insane.

Though MKULTRA was very real, this film is fiction, I was told it makes DMT, or some fictional form of DMT look really bad...

I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix, but I have not been able to bring myself to watch it...has anybody else seen this?

Haha. I saw the trailer and it looked like a joke.

How odd, I came into this sub-forum to post about this.

Haven't watched it yet, but it is currently streaming on Netflix so I'll probably take it in tonight. The fact that it is taking some Lovecraftian cues via From Beyond gives it some cred in my book, but I'm still not expecting much.

I watched the trailer. It does seem to make dmt look pretty unpleasant. I bet only a few of the 17 people who've ever seen this movie will take it very seriously though. Smile

He wasn't there again today,
I wish, I wish he'd go away.

I found it on Netflix but still have not watched it, there's a giant 3-D DMT molecule on the movie cover along with some horror-show head type thing...

When ancient aliens did a DMT episode (called "the shamans" I believe) I took it somewhat hard, I felt they may have been misrepresenting something that I see as sacred, I did not watch that episode either, but was told they did not do a bad job representing the compound...

I don't know if I'm going to be able to watch "banshee chapter"....

I'm a hobby MKULTRA researcher, and credit DMT for my spiritual awakening...and this movie fictionalized both into a horror story...uggghh

This may be a new issue for the DMT community, how are we going to handle what the mainstream does with DMT? And how they represent it? of coarse the DMT knowledgeable folks will take this with a grain of salt, but honestly, I'll be describing DMT to a friend in a public place and someone will over hear and ask me about it, and I'll explain, but how easy is it going to be to explain my position when this stuff becomes the fantasy topic of horror flicks?

I'm probably over-reacting, but I fear that DMT is going to seep into the mainstream in the near future, and I fear its misrepresentation will lead to knee-jerk paranoia and fear regarding the compound...but again I'm probably over reacting.

Here I feel that you hit on a core issue that we at the Nexus all face. Naturally we want to spread the love, light, and revelations we have gained from our powerful experiences with DMT, but how can we do it in a world that might not be ready to handle such things? How can we do it safely so as to not jeopardize our already legally-grey area of entheogenic plant usage/extraction or put anyone else in danger? How can we describe such bewildering experiences without looking insane to our objective-minded society?

I think large parts of the solution involve spreading education, critical thinking, and acceptance. The more people know and the more capacity they have to critically think, the more they will be able to be wary of the messages that the media push, especially ones surrounding taboo topics such as psychedelic medicines. Also, if there are more people aware of the positive effects of such substances, there may be more rational media that frames DMT in a positive light or at the very least considers pros along with cons.

Our society seems to be more liberal as time goes on, so hopefully more people will embrace the pursuit of happiness in their lives. Then we could all do whatever makes us happy as long as it does not step on the rights or happiness of others, and this means more psychedelic tripping in safe settings too.

The impending legalization of marijuana should help greatly in demystifying the taboo surrounding drugs, and hopefully this more rational approach will help spur a tidal wave of acceptance.

Great post! I share your sentiments .

The psychedelic community are the people that can either help this thing move along, or they can potentially ruin things for all of us, and I think places like the nexus have done a great job in holding the community to a certain standard, and along with institutions like MAPS and heffter research there has been a serious effort to assimilate psychedelics into mainstream culture in the proper manor. I have faith in the psychedelic community to ultimately project the proper image of these things...

However non-psychedelic people in media hear stories of entity contact, crossing the barrier between life and death, inter-dimensional travel, etc..and can't pass it up, this stuff is pure gold from a writer's standpoint, this stuff is too bizzare, the issue is these writers may not know anything about these compounds, they may not care about the psychedelic community, and worst of all they may have more influence over public opinion than the psychedelic community while lacking these concerns...

Most people say I should not worry, that the compound will speak for itself, which is true, provided people are willing to try the compound, it's like Galileo, if the church would have put their eye to his looking glass pointed towards the sky they would have been shown the truth, but they refused to look through his telescope, just as modern folks refuse to ingest DMT, so there does need to be a set of people explaining DMT to those who refuse to try it...

I think MAPS, the heffter institute, the nexus and the psychedelic community in general are actually doing a great job with all this....and I would hate to see some work of fiction reverse all of the hard work these people have done.

The marijuana movement has made some great strides forward in recent times, and is even legal where I reside, which is a great start, but global legalization should be the goal.

I think folks will eventually realize that the traditional plant psychedelics are ·Not dangerous ·Not addictive and ·have medical value, which should negate their schedule one status by definition....
