Do you think that our consciousness is irrelevant to our body? When our body die, do we continue to live as a "consciousness" ? I had a crazy trip the other day on psilocybin , and I tried to manifest my consciousness into my own piano. It sound's absurd i Know, but, damn, I'm just thinking about when we can manage to transfer consciousness into something else and leave our bodies , that would be crazy! what do you think?

Maybe piano is a bad choice , maybe it should be something organic, ore something else..

I mean, you people have also that feeling when you are aware of your body, that you are some how controlling it, from another place, hard to explain but, hmm. this got me thinking..

Does consciousness reside in the body, or is the body a manifestation of consciousness?
gibran2 is a fictional character. Any resemblance to anyone living or dead is purely coincidental.

both, of course.

one of these days I will cut the notion of consciousness down into tiny wittle pieces. consciousness is a subordinate characteristic of something far more complex and far more intriguing.

It is very complex indeed, I have traveled into my friends consciousness on a mushroom trip, aka telepathy, it was mindblowing. I couldn't bealive what was happening, but somehow, we shared our consciousness and we understood eachother just connecting our eyes. I was like "levitating" outside my body and connected to him, then I understood, that my body, is just a antena somehow receiving signals.

Consciousness is a space, rest is information within.
Observation simply is.
Stop thinking and be.
There is no "you", "I" and any kind of separation.
All is oneness manifesting spontaneously into existence in a single moment.
Peace, Love, Happiness. Very happy <3
Life is Love expressed in infinite ways.
Love is oneness and one is all.

Ego cogito, ego erro, cor sict. - I think, I mistake, soul knows.
If I am that which is nothing that exist but receives existence, what can happen to me, even if there will be no existence - that will be my purity.

I've had that trip before too, livinglife, and I would say it's true that consciousness continues after death as long as we relax what we mean by "consciousness". I think this sort of revelation comes to us while tripping because that particular form of consciousness can exist outside of the body. But then look at that particular form of consciousness: Often a human curled into a ball, perhaps unresponsive. This doesn't sound like a conscious being in the normally-finite human sense, but from subjective experience we know that the thoughts of this conscious being are very complex. Likewise, I like to think that any system with as many degrees of freedom as the human brain is conscious in some subjective sense.
Example:
There are 100 billion neurons in the human brain. Say a neuron has as twice as many connections as an iron atom in a block of iron has neighbors. Then 100 billion neurons have roughly as many degrees of freedom as 200 billion iron atoms. 200 billion iron atoms take up a volume of 2.38 cubic micrometers (that's the volume of a large bacterium). So, by my estimate, a block of iron the size of a bacterium has the same propensity for consciousness as the human brain, granted it will process information as more of a cellular automaton than as a neural network. So what I believe is that there's some way of analyzing the inputs and outputs of this hypothetical piece of iron that will result in an interpretation of the piece of iron as "consciousness".

That's all very abstract but the point is that, as we've all learned from psychedelics, consciousness takes many forms. Consciousness is a sort of processing structure that is adaptively self-preserving, and I would expect it to manifest in all types of physical matter as well as in nonphysical things like languages and cultures.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

Interesting video I just watched.... Seems appropriate and interesting regarding this conversation.

Scientists are working on technology to build better robots, and even technology to upload your consciousness to a hard drive where it can still grow and learn and act the way you act.... The technology isnt here yet, but it is developing, and maybe it isnt as far off as you think...

Will we be living in the matrix in our lifetime?

I think consciousness as a concept and word is illusory. Asking what consciousness is or where it originates is like asking how many angels fit on the head of a pin. Rather, ask not any questions and seek no answers. Be

Pure escapism if not conscious and by conscious I mean complete whole consciousness.
Nothing can replace the real presence, even if you are downloaded and can not appreciate the present moment it won't make you happy.

If they brain they download is a happy brain, then it can be happy for longer. With upgrades, it might even have a larger capacity for happiness.
