Hey All Smile

Anyone ever use a PC without glass jars for acid boils ?

Used glass jars the other day and 2 different types and both ended up with small cracks in them, maybe they were poor quality jars but it was all I could find that were the correct size and fitted the dimesions of my PC.

Planning on using shredded for this (have heard powder can clog valves), and filling to a suitable height with acidified water and doing 5 x 1 hour @ 15 psi boils.

Sounds okay to me Smile Does anyone else do this with a PC or do you all use mason jars ?

Thanks in advance Very happy

The downside is not being able to stir and the pressure causing the bark to rise to the top where the water can't get to. Also I found it was more the big shredded pieces that got stuck not the powder, this has caused my pc valve to start spitting a litter bit of water with the steam.

The benefit is the higher temp lyeses the cells more than standard open air boils.

I give my PC a ruddy good shake here and there during the cook.

I found only 30mins was enough due to the sheer pressure and temp causing the juices to go in to the water. Keep a check on your water color to see when the bark is spent (for me spent (clear) after 3x30mins at 15psi)
